Show f Mantua Meanderings Tremonton Tales Deer hunters here successful by Carol Southern The deer hunt seems to be pretty successful this fall for alot of the Mantua hunters. The successful hunters who bagged deer this hunt were: Dewey Sorenson, Burk Nelson, Keith Nelson, Ralph Valentine, Red Palmer, Reid Jeppsen, Jim Wilson, Neil Jeppsen, Lynn Hailing, Darwin Hailing, Guy, Danny, and John Higley, Blaine, Lois, and John Jensen, Lynn Richards, Cordell Ferry, Reid Nelson, and Glen Nelson. The Mantua Relief society chorus sang at the Stake Relief Society Leadership meeting last Thursday. Duen Richards led the group with Karen Jensen and Carol Hansen and give service to the community. The stork left a little pink bundle at the home of Bryce and Betty Jeppsen on Oct. 17. Proud grandparents are Herman and Dorothy Jeppsen and Elmer and Fern Hall of Garland. Great-grandparen- are ts Florence Gardner of Brigham City and Mr. and Mrs. Sam Garland. The baby Capnerof girl, to be named Tonya, weighed in at six pounds six oz. Ralph and Marie Valentine, with Robert and Mark, spent two days on a campout at Round Valley at Bear Lake. Must be good luck to take the better half on deer hunts, as Ralph Wise up bagged a hunters! Club was at Arietta Jensens on Friday night. This months Rook players were: Dixie Noyes, Ruth Nelson, Karen Hailing, Bernice Rasmussen, Doris Nelson, Joyce Larsen, Carol Hansen, and Arietta Jensen. Doris took high, BerniKaren-low- . ce-cut, and Refreshments were served. Visiting the home of Ron and Kathy Roubidoux last Sunday afternoon was Kathys brother, David Boyle, from Ogden. The Robert Wallentine family hud dinner on Sunday with Roberts folks, Van Ness and Haddie Wallebtine. On the way home they stopped and visited with Joannes sister and family, Marloe and Arlene Archibald. Robert Raidale tells us there will be a local motorcycle race on Nov. 24 from Mantua to Willard Peak. Robert is the number three rider in the state in motor cross, TT and desert racing. Last Sunday was a special day for Lee and Kathy Larsen. Their daughter was blessed by her father and named Amy Kathryn at fast and testimony meeting. Following church there was a dinner at the home of Merlin and Trina Larsen. Guests at the dinner included Mr. and Mrs. four-poin- Curtis and Joyce Larsen took Sue Ann down to Salt Lake on Thursday for the Youth Senate. While there Curt and Joyce visited with Curtis aunt, Sarah Daines and went to Midvale to see Curtis sister and family, Carolyn Tease. Lovely Jana Johnson was chosen as Homecoming queen at Weber State. Jana reigned over homecoming activities last week. She was crowned Tuesday night at the dance. She on rode in honor the Homecoming float in the Saturday parade. Also on Saturday there was a luncheon with Governor Calvin L. Rampton, state dignataries, and the college president. She sat in the presidents box at the football game and was honored royally at half;time. Jana, who is in her junior year, was the the at homecoming dance Saturday night. On Saturday, Barbara Facer, Deon and Paul Ferry, went to Salt Lake to meet Elder Douglas Facer, who returned from a mission in Japan. belle-of-the-ba- ll Moore Than Tricks Last Saturday night there were eight goblins out taking treats to various houses. No one knows for sure who they were, as they were all wearing paper sacks over their heads. Guess they will be forever known as the Masquerading Eight! Mary Jeppsen spent last Sunday in Salt Lake City visiting her son Deon Jeppsen and his wife Pat, who was celebrating her birthday. Joyce Larsen has been elected vice president in the newly organized Utah Peace Officers Auxilary for Box Elder county. They do charity work t. Starr Corbett, of Alamosa, Colo., Kathys parents, and Mr. and Mrs. Jim Kalana also from Alamosa. Also attending was Mr. and Mrs. George Stevenson of Provo and Kathys sister and her husband of Nephi, Mr. and Mrs. Kirk Otteson. Bobbie Christensen and Jack and Nelda Hight and children came after dinner to see the new baby and visit. Moms for Home homecooking were Paula Sheehan and Scott and Coleen Rampton last Friday night with Ruth, Paul and Steven Sheehan. Hustle and bustle at Neil Jeppsens! Their new house is now on its foundation and they plan to move in on Saturday. Farewell and best wishes to Phil Jeppsen who will leave on a mission to Melbourne, Australia on Wednesday. There was a farewell dinner at Harper and Donell Jeppsens the past Sunday. Donnells mother, Mrs. Wigman, has been visiting for a couple of weeks. Visit in Montana Rita Nelson, along with Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Stack, spent the past Saturday, Sunday and Monday in Dillon, Mont. They were visiting Ritas daughter and family, Gayle and Ora Lee Stark. While there they went to the Primary Halloween carnival on Saturday night and on Sunday attended Sacrament meeting. Darla Nelson, daughter of Melvern and Deanne Nelson, was baptized last Friday by her brother, Burk Nelson and confirmed on Sunday by Bishop Rasmussen. Another baptism on Friday was Stephanie Linton. Burk Nelson baptized her and she was confirmed on Sunday by Guy Higley. Stephanie is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Perks. Paula Sheehan went with Campus Crusade for Christ for fall retreat in Cathedral Pines Camp, North of Sun Valley, Idaho. It was attended by college students of Idaho and was theme Utah. The Discipleship. Steven Sheehan, along with sister, Paula, went with the Campus Crusade for Christ to Salt Lake City to see the Billy Graham film, Time to Run. Steven went to the Utah State and West Texas homecoming game in Logan on Saturday with Scott and Coleen Rampton. Dale Jacobsen of Riverton visited with the Wilsons Saturday. Dale, who is Jims brother-in-law- , came up for the deer hunt. Rita Nelson, Ruby Nelson, Eva Thorson and Isabelle Thorson went with the Senior Citizens by bus to Jackpot, Nev., Oct. 17 and 18. They enjoyed the shows, good food and had lots of fun. Special Interest Group met for family home evening on Monday, at Lillie Wells. Attending were Ruth Johnson, Plymouth Ponderings Birthday club meets, honors 5 by Flo Munson The Birthday club met at the home of Mrs. Dick Owen Thursday evening with Mrs. A Greg Lamb as luncheon was served afterwhich the evening was spent playing games. The party was for Mrs. Rulon Rudd, Mrs. Vernon Lamb, Mrs. Evan Hess, Mrs. Dick Owen and Mrs. Ray Whiting who had recently celebrated birthday an- niversaries. They were each presented with a nice gift. Mrs. Earl Pierson entertained at a family party at her home Sunday for her husband who was observing his birthday anniversary. Mrs. Newel Nish and Mrs. Joseph Stokes spent Monday in Bountiful visiting Mr. and Mrs. Don Nish and family and Mr. and Mrs. Verl Nish and family. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Steed had as their Sunday evening guests Mrs. Steeds brother and sister-in-laMr. and Mrs. Eardley Hawks and son Nolan of Ogden. Enjoying dinner at the Golden Spike cafe in Corinne Saturday evening were Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Peterson and Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Lamb. 100 Ron on Oct. 18. Mantua Cub Scouts had a Halloween party the past Thursday evening. The boys and parents enjoyed a costume parade, songs, dunking for apples and apples on strings. Cliff and Mary Allred and Odell end Deana Rice hosted the festivities. The Mountainview School Halloween Carnival starts tonight at 5 with dinner and the fun begins at 5:30 p.m. There will be door prizes, quilt drawing, free candy and lots of games. Ty Southern celebrated his first birthday on Wednesday with an ice cream and cake party in the evening. Grandparents Cooper and the Alan Cooper family were there to help him celebrate. Recently Arvella Jeppsen went to Rupert Idaho with her son and his wife, Clint and Betty Nelson. From there they went to Lake Tahoe, Nev., for two days. While there they met another son, Dean Nelson and his wife from Ukilh, Calif., and daugher Marilyn and her daughter, Tracy Mackley of Salinas, Calif. After returning to Rupert, where Arvella spent three days, she returned home. Attend Session Norm and Arvella Jeppsen went to the Ogden Temple last Wednesday and then visited with their children at the home of Arvell and Norm Jeanselme. Clarice Williams and Ardia Piers join the group. Little Stacy Higley was blessed and named by her father John Higley at fast and testimony meeting on Sunday. A special dinner at Guy and June Higleys followed church. Guests included Guys mother and sister, Rhoda Higley of Burley, Gaye Billings of Tremonton, Sallys parents Mr. and Mrs. Lee Hansen of Brigham, and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Mann of Garland. The Tremonton Literary Guild met at the home of Mrs. Vernell Morrison Tuesday Mrs. evening. Marjorie Stenquist gave an interesting program involving the experiences she and her husband had while serving as LDS missionaries at the Visitors Center in Independence, Mo. There was costume contests, and a spook alley. The kids enjoyed pizza and other goodies. Visiting the Houser home on Monday was Leon and Margret Grange and children of Ogden. They enjoyed dinner and visited during the day. Yours truly and my two sons, Martin and Ty went to Idaho for a short vacation. We spent last week there visiting my parents, Mr. and Mrs. E.E. Cooper in Glenns Ferry. Martin stayed with them for a few days after. Ty and I came back home. Mary Jo Allred celebrated her fifth birthday with an ice cream and cake party with friends on Thursday.
