The homecoming queen will also reign as Miss Utah State university, a selection that has in the past been made in a separate contest later in the year. Blue Key service fraternity, sponsors of the Miss Utah State university contest, volunteered to take over the homecoming queen pageant this year and combined the two contests into one spectacular event. Michael Carver, popular young vocalist of Brigham City delighted the audience as master of ceremonies. ' Darrelene Lewis had the leading female role in two of Bear River High school and musicals Carousel Guys and Dolls. She also reigned as Miss Wheat and Beet Day queen in 1973. Since enrolling at USU, Darrelene is affiliated with student production, is a member of ths Chorale and is a member of the Kappa Delta sorority. She was sponsored by the Kappa Delta sorority to compete in the homecoming queen young contest.
