Mrs. Lovinnie Holt returned home by plane Wednesday after spending an enjoyable visit in Tacoma, Wash., visiting her and daughter Mr. and Mrs. A1 (Ina Mae) Shapiro and family. She was accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Bob Whitney and Mrs. Bill Stokes of Ogden. They also visited Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Upton and family in Chevalis, Wash; and Mr. and Mrs. Everett C. Holt and son Maurice in Salem, Ore. Mrs. Holt was an overnight guest of Mr. and Mrs. Mervin Holt in Salt Lake before returning home. Visiting Gordon Petty for several days during the past week was his son Merrill Petty of Lawrence, Kan. Hess returned Wednesday after a delightful week visit to New Mexico. They went especially to attend the Quarter Horse races in Ruidoso. This is the richest quarter horse race in the world. One yearling quarter horse sold for $151,000. There was over $1,000,000 in the total purse. James and Tess also enjoyed visiting Carlsbad Caverns in the southern part of New Mexico, the Indian ruins in south western Colorado and the Arches National Monument in southern Utah. While they were away Mrs. Hess mother, Mrs. Pearl Hoopes of Benson Ward cared for their children Tony, Elone, San and Todd. Spending the weekend at Daniels canyon, near Heber were Mr. and Mrs. Leon Grover and son Lane. They were joined by Mr. and Mrs. Bert Chew and family of Vernal and Mr. and Mrs. John Marshall of Ogden. Overnight guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Afton Adams Friday were their and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Richard (Lois) Davis and daughter Julie of Rupert, Idaho. Their son Allen Davis who has just received his honorable discharge after serving with the Armed Forces in Germany for the past two years was also with his parents and sister. Spending Wednesday evening visiting Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Anger were their son and Mr. and Mrs. daughter-in-laRobert Anger of Salt Lake City. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Udy were in Rupert, Idaho on business Friday. Visiting Mrs. Mildred Smith during the week was her sister-in-laMrs. Ortel Jensen of Great Falls, Mont. Mr. and Mrs. Darvel Garn accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. E. E. ' Mr. and Mrs. Earl Owen and family accompanied by Mrs. Nina Lamb of Plymouth visited Mr. and Mrs. Herman Thompson in Clarkston Sunday. Attending the State Fair in Salt Lake City Saturday were Mr. and Mrs. DeVere Adams and family. They also visited Douglas Wood who has been transferred to the University . Medical Center for further care. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Anger accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Ned Baadsgaard of Garland and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Holman of Clearfield attended Peach Days in Brigham City Saturday and were also dinner guests of Mrs. Linda Westley and girls. Dinner guests at the home of Mrs. Alene Sutherland during the week were Mr. and Mrs. kent Sutherland and family, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Sutherland and son Paul, Mr. and Mrs. Bradley Sutherland of Ogden and Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Goodsell of Newton. Mr. and Mrs. Ralph visited their Udy brother-in-la- John Laws in the McKay Hospital in Ogden Wednesday. Thursday he was transferred to the University Medical Center in Salt Lake City. Enjoying a dinner party at Maddox Friday evening were Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Munson. They were accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Carl Schroder of Ogden. Carl has been the supervisor of the milling department at Pillsbury Inc., in Ogden for the past nine years and is now being transferred to Enid, Okla. Mrs. Verl Udy accompanied by her houseguests Mr. and Mrs. L. W. Strafford of Kellogg, Idaho, and Harry Coddington of Independence, Mo., spent Tuesday visiting an aunt, Mrs. Calvin Criddle in Downey. They were also accompanied by Mrs. Lyle Watson of Tremonton. Wednesday the same group visited Mr. and Mrs. Tim Parker in Ogden. Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Munson, Mr. and Mrs. Ace Godfrey accompanied by Mrs. Floyd Eggli and children Carl, Carrie, Clinton, Casey and Craig and Mrs. Herman Lott of Bothwell and Orson Godfrey and Joseph Godfrey of Lehi attended a George Godfrey reunion held in Willow Park in Logan Sunday. Theron Godfrey of Logan was president for the reunion. A picnic luncheon was enjoyed followed by a program which included a history of Eliza Pack Godfrey given by her granddaughter Bea Eggli and a history of George Godfrey given by his daughter Flo Munson. Later the group met in and daughter Cindy, Donetta Petersen, left for their home in Mesa after spending the past few days at the Uel Garn home. Mrs. Daryl Garn came especially to attend the wedding of her niece Miss Debbie Stevenson of Logan who observing her birthday niversary. Capener, son of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Capener of Riverside, has completed assignment with the Public is and Health Service establishing a private dental practice at the Hyland Heights Dental Clinic in Brigham City. Dr. Capener is a graduate of Bear River high school and LDS Seminary and has received a BS degree from Brigham Young University. He attended Case Western Reserve University School of Dentistry, Cleveland. Ohio, where he was awarded the BEHS Foster parents 6:30 pm. with the competition taking place in the school gymnasium. Trophies will be awarded to the top three teams plus units judged best in military and congeniality. Judges for the competition will include Swede Larsen, Pauline Fuller, Teresa Murphy, Jean Royland, and Denise Hewlett, staff members at Utah and Mrs. Opal Groth left for Salt Lake City . Mrs. Groth will visit her sister Mrs. Nick Barberrio. Mrs. Welling will enter the LDS Hospital for major surgery. An open house for friends and relatives was held at the home of Mrs. Lucille Potter Saturday evening for her daughter Janael Potter who became the bride of Terry Kaae on Aug. 17.
