JOURNAL, Brigham City, Utah Thursday, November 29, 1973 Macrame Buzzing Bear River ,n Arizona family visits locally by Senneth Iverson Mr. and Mrs. McAldon Thompson of Phoenix, Ariz. were recent visitors at the Jerry Iverson home. Mac and his wife Tyra and Shirley Iverson were all members of the A Cappella choir at Bear River High school a few years ago. Thanksgiving day guests at the Jerry Iverson's were Mr. and Mrs. Ivan Iverson and Mark Anderson whose parents Mr. and Mrs. Bud Anderson drove to Richfield to be with Bud's parents. Mrs. Andersons health has finally improved so she could make the trip without any problems. The Iversons were happy to receive a telephone call from Shirleys parents who are on a mission in Missouri. Mr. and Mrs. Stenauist (Marjore and Einor) report they are doing fine outside of being a little homesick. , Undergoes Tests Mrs. FaeLela Huggins accompanied her mother to the McKay hospital in Ogden Monday where Mrs. Burt was to undergo some tests to discover the reason for a bad cough she has had for some time. and Mrs. John Bishop Holmgren and family were dinner guests of the Gerald Ballard family in Tremonton Thursday. Mr. and Mrs. Carter Iverson son Rex and spent Thanksgiving weekend with Mrs. Iversons parents the Sam Ospitals in Naf. They also i Visited with Mrs. Mary Iverson 'and the family of Dean Fredrickson while they were there. The gathering at the Dick Nelson home Thursday were Mr. and Mrs. Doyle Archibald and son Duane, Mrs. LaVon Dallin and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Yates of Brigham City. Susan and Sylvia Grimmett of Salt Lake City were here with their grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Ken Paskett from Thursday until Sunday. The Pasketts have been making frequent trips to the McKay hospital this last Week as Kens mother Mrs. Marguerite Paskett recently had surgery and is still in serious condition. Mrs. Myrtle Anderson has spent most of the past three weeks in Ogden with her mother. Her stepfather had surgery and wasnt recovering as rapidly as expecteu. He died Nov. 24, and the funeral was held the following Tuesday. Maurice Thompson of Calif, called on the LaMarr Iversons to say goodbye before returning to his home. He came in for the funeral of his wife Irene Cox Thompson two weeks ago. Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Johnson and two children of Layton had dinner at the home of Mrs. Johnsons fRochelane) grandmother Mrs. Ida Christensen on Sunday. During the afternoon Ida rode to Ogden with Mr. and Mrs. Golden Anderson of Both-wel- l. Gar-bervill- e, Mrs. Joan Von Reeswick of Holland, a teacher of the Dutch language class at Ricks college for missionaries leaving for Holland, spent - the Thanksgiving holidays with the Roy Braegger family. Joan made the acquaintance of the Braeggers through their son is Kenneth who doing missionary work in Holland. She meet Richie Holmgren while they were doing missionary work in London England. Students Home Many of the college students were home for the holidays among them were; David Weidman, Shelly Holmgren, Becky Hendrickson and Susan Jensen from BYU; Jane Holmgren from USU, Marilyn and Michelle Burt from Weber and Barbara Hawkes from the U of U. DeAnn Nelson Christensen spent part of her vacation here in the hospital. She spent two days in the Cooley Memorial hospital for minor surgery. Don and DeAnn and their two children returned to their home in Fresno, Calif, on Monday. Mary Anderson had the Harvey Braegger family of Willard as her dinner guests Thanksgiving day. Mrs. Lee Johnson came home Sunday from the Cooley Memorial hospital where she had major surgery last Tuesday. She is improving very swing Macrame is currently in full swing as part of the Community School offerings at Box Elder Junior High school. A variety of projects are being taught by Cathie Olds, instructor. Our current offering in macrame is an example of our new class offerings this year. We are excited about the talent and enthusiasm that Mrs. Olds brings to the class," said Ted Hougaard, director. Fall Program fall program is well underway at the junior high school and a wide variety of classes are being offered. However, officials would like to hear from the patrons about what classes they would like made available to them, said Hougaard. The ' well. of Dale and Leopa Bryant Project Citv, Calif, visited with Bessie and Chester Christensen for five davs. While here they visited the Bingham Mines, Temple Square, Golden Spike monument and many of the other interesting places around our area. Chester and Bessie were their neighbors for more than 30 years. Kent Christensen is home from the service for 25 days. He reports he certainly likes Utah better than South Carolina. He is stationed at Fort Bragg there. is "We will maike available just about anything that interests 10 or more people, We experiment a little and try to find subjects that are interest ing and useful, he commented. We hope tc ' improve our service to the public and would appreciate a word as to what they want and need," he said. Growing; Fast Community Sch iooI is growing fast in Utah. It st, irted about 10 years ago and in 1972-7- 3 there were about 50,000 students ( of all ages) enrolled in some 1,500 offerings. The idea behim i community school is that the st :hools belong to the taxpayers ar id have a lot of facilities and eqi lipment that should be available for general and educational public recreational use, Hougaard explained. MACRAME STUDENTS These students are working on macrame projects in Cathie Olds class at the Box Elder Junior High school, which is being offered as Attend Funeral Mrs. Dollie Iverson accompanied Mr. and Mrs. Trent Thompson and Mrs. Grace Kroksh of Elwood to the viewing of a cousin Laron Anderson in Brigham Sunday evening and then to the funeral Monday. Ricky Hansen of Roosevelt visited with Gary Iverson during the weekend. Austin Johnsen is now among the great grandfather of our town. The new one is a daughter born to Gloria the daughter of Austin's daughter Elyce. Larry and Karen Peterson and Children Val and Troy of Magna spent Saturday and Sunday with Karen's parents the Bobby Bakers. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Huggins were the dinner guests on Thursday of her daughter and family the James Karos of Ogden. Mr. and Mrs. Hyrum Christensen of Brigham, Mr. and Mrs. Craig Hansen and son of Perry, Mr. and Mrs. Chester Christensen and Kent, and Mr. and Mrs. Roger Dallin and two sons spent Thanksgiving day with Mr. and Mrs. Bob Christensen in Hyde Park. It was a double celebration because it was also Chester and Bessies wedding anniversary. Mr. and Mrs. Boyd Hawkes visited with the Robert Hawkes and Mr. and Mrs. Roy Oyler of Springville Thursday morning before they drove to Howell to have Thanksgiving dinner with Mr. and Mrs: Lawrence Hawkes, Gary and Margaret Jeppson and their children and of Miss Irene Hawkes Tremonton. Later in the day they visited with the Peter Misrasi family in Tremonton and their guests for the day LaMarr and Dolly Iverson and Gary Iverson. During the day the Iverson's received calls from their children Sallie and Gene Mabry of Rolling Hills, Calif.; Jeannette and Wallace Brown of Hunstville, Alabama and Carla of and Robert Dennison Crypertino Calif. Merrille Hawkes spent Thanksgiving in Pocatello with friends and Blair Hawkes spent the weekend with his brother Steven in Salt Lake. Visiting at Home Roberta Huggins was home Thursday from Weber State college but had to go back that evening as she is a member of the committee who had to decorate the Union building for the Christmas holidays. Mrs. Carrie J. Christensen had Thanksgiving dinner with the Joe Murray family in Ogden. Mr. and Christensen Mrs. attended Elmo the at the funeral of Lester Coombs Belmont ward Saturday. Mrs. Carrie Christensen and Nola Nessler attended the viewing of Mr. Coombs at the Rogers Mortuary Friday night. Sugar beets are sold under a participating contract which provides additional payments as sugar from the crop is sold.
