Harrli Friday with Mr. and Mrs. Larry Allen. Dr. Ronald John returned to his home in Everett, Wash. Tuesday after several days visit with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ora H. John. Mr. and Mrs. Thayne Hupp and family of Hansel Valley hosted a dinner at their home Wednesday evening. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. Joe Morris, sons Walter and Vaughn, Jackie Williams of Portage, Mr. and Mrs. Parker Hupp and family of Brigham City and the host and hostess and family. Baby Girl Word has been received by Mr. and Mrs. Glen Morris of the birth of a baby girl to L. H. and Sheila Morris Thorpe of Leadville, Colo. Nov. 19 at Denver. Their son Brendon is visiting with his grandparents here. Other grandparents are Mr. and Mrs. Lyman T. Thorpe of and Garland greatMrs. grandmother, Pearl Hawks of Ogden. Thanksgiving dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Chester P. Neal were family members, Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Wiser of Alpine, Mr. and Mrs. Parris Neal and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Tree of Logan. Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Ward brought Mrs. Wards parents, Mr. and Mrs. John F. Conley to their home Friday after a weeks visit with them at their home in Idaho Falls. They also visited with Mr. and Mrs. Melvin Gibbs during the week. Mr. and Mrs. E. Wynn John were dinner guests of Mrs. John's mother, Mrs. Leona Williams of Malad Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Harris were weekend guests of their son and daughter-in-law- , Mr. and Mrs. Phil R. Harris and family. Saturday afternoon they attended "open house" hosted by their son at his new physical therapy office located at 41 South Ninth East, Salt Lake City. Miss Mary Ann Call of Pocatello, Idaho and Mrs. Ben Call Jr. of Blackfoot visited Mr. and Mrs. David P. Gibbs were Sunday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Thos. A. John of Cherry Creek at the Cross X cafe in Tremonton. They all visited with Mr. and Mrs. DeLos Jensen of Fielding later in the afternoon. Mr. and Mrs. Glen Morris hosted a family holiday dinner Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. Robert Callister and family and Mr. and Mrs. Craig Morris and daughter, Christan of Ogden, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Johnston and family of Bountiful and the host and hostess present. Mr. and Mrs. Kipp Parker of Salt Lake City visited with them Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Billie Gibbs and sons of Ogden and Mr. and Mrs. Sidney Gibbs and daughter of Tremonton and Val Dee Gibbs were holiday dinner guests of their parents and grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. L. Gibbs Thursday. Dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Jones and family on Thanksgiving Day were Mr. and Mrs. Ora H. John, parents of Mrs. Jones. Mr. and Mrs. Clifford Hoskins returned home Friday night from Ogden where they spent Thanksgiving day with their son Mr. and and daughter-in-law- , Mrs. Jack Hoskins and family. Gains Award J. Neal John, son of Mr. and Mrs. E. Wynn John was presented with a Duty to God award by Bishop Glen Morris at Sacrament meeting Sunday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Jim Udy and family and Mr. and Mrs. Michael Williams and family were among the 49 present at' Thanksgiving dinner at the new home of Mr. and Mrs. Bart Williams and family of Salt Lake City. The seven children of Mr. and Mrs. Farrell Williams and their families enjoyed the holiday dinner and activities together. The Advent Season is a time of preparation for Christmas, and the lessons for the services during this season emphasize the prophets who foretold the coming of the Messiah. Cindy Bingham was an overnight guest of her cousin, Susan Knudsen and returned home Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Wendell C. Two grandsons of Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Thomas were hospitalized during the week, being treated for croup. Burke Thomas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Reed Thomas was treated at the hospital in Brigham City and Brandon Thomas, son of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Thomas of Portage was treated at Malad. Mr. and Mrs. Reed Nielsen entertained of the Altar at Holy Cross their family members at the holiday dinner Thursday at their home. Those present were: Allan Nielsen, Mr. and Mrs. Ray Nielsen and Mr. and Mrs. Owen Nielsen and family, Portage, Mr. and Mrs. Gary Cannon and sons, North Ogden. Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Harris were among Thanksgiving dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Gleed of Malad. Other guests were Mr, and Mrs. Lon Williams of Salt Lake City. The members of Holy Cross will also be participating in the evening fellowship sponsored by the Ministry Coalition. St. dinner Michaels Episcopal Friday, Nov. 30, is the feast of St. Andrew. Sunday, Dec. 2, is the first Sunday in Advent. A Eucharist will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. Cooperative church school is each Tuesday at 3:45 p.m. at Gillespie Hall. Children from three years of age through sixth grade are welcome. A Eucharist will be held at 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 5. United Presbyterian This Sunday morning Communion will be served. This is the first Sunday in Advent. Service is at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Dick Lawson delivering the sermon. Tuesday morning Breakfast club for the junior highs meets at Holy Cross at 7:15 a.m. for Bible study. Cocoa and donuts are provided. Senior Highs "Rap Group at the Bassetts every Sunday morning at 9:30 a.m. prior to worship. All seniors are invited. There will be no meeting of the Sand Dollars junior high group this Sunday evening. There will be a Community Fellowship dinner Sunday evening from 6 until 9 p.m. at the Community center. The whole family is invited. Families with surnames bring main dish starting and salad; those with M-- bring main dish and dessert. This will be an evening of singing, food and fellowship, so plan to be' there. A-- L Z Aldersgate Methodist The Wesley Bell Ringers, internationally known hand bell choir, made up of high school students of the Christ United Methodist church of Salt Lake City, will present a concert of Advent Music during the morning worship services this coming Sunday. The young people will play at 9:15 a.m. in the Corinne Methodist church and at 11 a.m. in the Community United Methodist church of Tremonton. Visitors are always welcome at our services, and are invited to hear the message in music as presented by the Bell Ringers. Senior high youth fellowship will hold its regular meeting at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday evening, at 382 Camaren drive. Christian Reformed by Flo Munson The Mutual Married held a holiday dance at the Belmont ward cultural hall Saturday evening under the direction of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Udy. A large crowd attended and reported having had a very good time. Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Stokes and family spent the Thanksgiving holidays visiting Mr. and Mrs. Robert Keller and family in Portland, Ore. Mr. and Mrs. Orvil Nish accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Brent Macfarlane and two daughters of Logan enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner with Mr. and Mrs. DeVerl Nish and family in Idaho Falls. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Udy accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Bryce Udy of Tremonton attended the performance of the Barbershop Quartet festival held in the Highland High school in Salt Lake City Friday. Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Rudd Day spent Thanksgiving visiting their son and daughter-in-laMr. and Mrs. Clifford Rudd and family in Layton. They were joined by Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Harris and son Delon of Ogden. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Welling The beginning of the Advent season will be noted at the 10:30 a.m. service this Sunday. Pastor Ed Boer will give the message. The evening service at 6:30 p.m. includes a lot of singing and fellowship as well as Bible study. Visitors are always welcome. Sunday school classes, from preschool through high school, are held at 9:30 a.m. Preparation has begun for the annual Christmas program. A church supper is planned for next Wednesday, beginning at 6:15 p.m. All families are encouraged to bring a hot dish, plus a salad and dessert. Also your own table service. Childrens Bible classes will be resumed today (Thursday) at 3:45 p.m. A Youth night will also be held, beginning at 7 p.m. and Mr. and Mrs. Loyd Hess were in Ogden on business Friday. Dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Gardner Udy on Thanksgiving were Mr. and Mrs. Max Kunzler and family of Park Valley, Mr. and Mrs. Bryce Udy and family of Tremonton, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Udy and family, Mrs. Ray Udy and family of Plymouth. Ray Udy is on a special assignment for the Utah-Idah- o Sugar company in Moses Lake, Wash. Grant Hirschi of Riverside is also on the same assignment. Thanksgiving Spending visiting Mrs. Nina Lamb were Mr. and Mrs. Tom Grill and family of Ogden, Mr. and Mrs. Vern Deakin and two sons of Tremonton. Spending Saturday evening visiting Mr. and Mrs. Hal Mason were Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Taylor and two sons of Brigham City. Mr. and Mrs. Newel Nish spent Thanksgiving visiting Mr. and Mrs; Don Nish and family in Bountiful. They were later joined by Mr. and Mrs. Udell Godfrey and family spending the past week visiting Mrs. Davis parents Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Vanderhoof. Mrs. Barbara Vanderhoof, accompanied by Mrs. Tamra Udy of Riverside and Mrs. Beverly Rovbal of Ogden spent Friday in Salt Lake City visiting Mr. and Mrs. Newel Udy and Mr. and Mrs. Grant Skinner. of Clarkston and Mr. and Mrs. Verl Nish and family of Bountiful. Attending a taco party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Udy and family Wednesday evening were Mr. and Mrs. Bryce Udv and family of Tremonton, Mr. and Mrs. Gardner Udy and Mrs. Ray Udy and family of Plymouth. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Welling attended a family at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Brough and family in Tremonton on Thanksgiving. Mr. and Mrs. Tony Davis and children Daren and Michelle of Whittier, Calif, have been BR principal named to key position Darwin Woodbury, principal the Bear River High school, has been appointed to serve on the National Advisory board for the National Association of Secondary School Principals, it was learned this past week. Dr. Woodburys duties will be in the National High School contests and activities area where he will help advise on those activities and contests that should merit approval on a national basis. Dr. Woodbury is presently serving as chairman of the Region One Principals Board of Managers and board member of the Utah High School Activities association. of n ouniain Dinner Guests Thanksgiving dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. E. Also Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Gibbs, parents of Mrs. Thomas. Mrs. Ethel Hall returned home Saturday after several days visit with her son and Mr. and Mrs. daughter-in-law- , Lyle Hall of Malad. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Allen and family were Thursday dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ben Call of Malad. Much concern is felt for a former Portage resident, now of Tremonton, Floyd Rose, accident victim, who remains in critical condition at the McKay-De- e hospital in Ogden. His condition is reported as slightly improved. Mr. and Mrs. Larry Howell and family enjoyed a family reunion and Thanksgiving dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Wheatley and family of Robin, Idaho. Mr. and Mrs. Don Forsgren and family of Thatcher, Idaho were Thanksgiving dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Howell, parents of Mrs. Forsgren, Sharon and Todd visited with their grandparents until Saturday. Mr. and Mrs. Ray McAllister of Logan and Beverly Jenkins of Salt Lake City were holiday weekend guests of their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Herald Jenkins.
