Show Garland Gazette Riverside Register BOX ELDER JOURNAL, Brigham City, Utah Thursday, November 29, 1973 Local families host Family dinners Thanksgiving dinners highlight holiday by Flo Munion Enjoying a delicious turkey dinner at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Rogers on Thanksgiving Day were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Harris and family of Shoshone, Idaho; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Price and family, Ronald Janet Sorenson, Sorenson and Boyd Price of Ogden, Mr. and Mrs. Delray Stark and family of Shelley, Idaho; Mr. and Mrs. LaMont Rogers and family, Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Thompson of Tremonton. Jeff Reese, Mr. and Mrs. Burke Rogers and family of Garland. Mrs. Fred Trenkle of Hailey, Idaho. Later in the afternoon other guests were Mrs. Sherry Doman and family and Jerry Cragun of Ogden. Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Marriott had as their weekend guests Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Taylor and family of Brigham City. Friday evening they attended a party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Hales and family in Tremonton in compliment to little Scott Hales who was celebrating his second birthday anniversary. Also attending were Mr. and Mrs. Steve Hales of Tremonton. Cake and ice cream were enjoyed. Scott received lots of nice gifts. Mr. and Mrs. Gary Potter and children Tiffinee and Tammee accompanied by Mrs. Faye White of Tremonton enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Kent Wheelwright in Bountiful. Spending a few weeks visiting Mrs. Blanche Coombs is her son and daughter-in-laMr. and Mrs. Gary Coombs of Naples, Italy. Gary is serving with the U.S. Navy. Bone Earl enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Jensen and family in Bountiful. Returns Home Mrs. Naomi Oyler returned iome Friday after spending the holidays visiting her granddaughter Mrs. Jerry Peterson and family in Bruna Vista, Colo. Mrs. Mildred Last returned home Saturday after spending the holidays visiting her and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Jerald Castleton and family in Centerville. She also visited Mr. and Mrs. Frank Last in acBountiful. She was companied by Mrs. LaVerne .Brough who visited Mr. and son-in-la- New head named for assistance The new director of District One, assistance payments office for Box Elder, Cache and Rich counties is Joseph J. Walsh. He replaced Donald T. Richins, who has been assigned to the Provo office. Walsh was the assistance payments training specialist for nine districts throughout the state, before being assigned to his present position. In addition, he assisted the Utah coordinator with transfer of case data to Social Security Administration for certain as sistance categories that will be effective in January 1974. was Walsh Previously to Project assigned Resystemization that successfully placed payments of recipients through the state computer. Walsh has resided in Ogden for over 13 years. He is an Air Force veteran of WWII in China and Vietnam and received a BS degree after attending the University of Southern California and Weber State college. He also attended graduate school at Utah State university. Mrs. David Brough and family in Centerville, Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Thompson and family in Layton and Mr. and Mrs. Gale Jensen and family in Bountiful. Callers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. W. Lee Thompson Thursday were Mr. and Mrs. Jim Didericksen of Ogden, Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Didericksen and son Michael and daughter Michelle and Mr. and Mrs. Terry Baird and daughter Tiffani of Grantsville. Returning Friday after spending several days in Bountiful were Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Jensen. They visited Mr. and Mrs. Thirl Christensen, Mr. and Mrs. Merrill Jensen and Mr. and Mrs. Farrell Archibald and families. Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Gephart had as their dinner guests on Thanksgiving Mr and Mrs. R. Y. Clayton of Salt Lake City, Mr. and Mrs. David Clayton and two sons of Farmington, Mr. and Mrs. Robert Gephart and family of Bountiful. Dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. on Sorenson Sidney Thanksgiving Day were Mr. and Mrs. Merlin Larson of Mantua, David Christensen, Mr. and Mrs. Chris Sorenson and family of Ogden, Bonita Gage of Fayetteville, Ark. Enjoying dinner with Mr. and Mrs. LeRov Allred and family Thanksgiving Day were Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Butler and daughter Christi of Bountiful, Louis Corbridge of Roy, Edith Butler of Brigham City, Alma Butler of Salt Lake City, Mr. and Mrs. Randi Woerner and daughter Mikel of Murray. Visiting' Mr. and Mrs. David Manning the past week were Mr. and Mrs. David Howard and family of Napa, Calif. They also visited Mr. and Mrs. Owen Howard in East Tremonton. Mr. and Mrs. David Manning Mrs. Jay Curtis and family of Salt Lake City. Sheryl Richards of Logan is spending a few days with her parents Mr. and Mrs. LaMont Richards and family. Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Couch of Malad visited Mr. and Mrs. 0. C. Davis durikng the week. Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Davis spent Friday in Salt Lake City. They visited Mrs. Margaret Couch Fry, former Garland resident who is receiving medical care at the University Medical Center. Mrs. Pearl Cullimore spent Thanksgiving visiting her son and daughter-in-laMr. and Mrs. Jay Cullimore and family in Ogden. Overnight guests at the home son-in-la- Overnight Guests and Mrs. LaMont Richards and family were overnight guests of Miss Sheryl Richards in Logan Wednesday, Thursday they all met at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Johnson and family in Preston for Thanksgiving dinner. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Archie Gill and Mr. and Mrs. Randy Halford and daughter Allyson of Preston, Mr. and Mr. Thursday through Saturday were Mr. and Mrs. Reed Sorenson and family of Las Vegas. On Thanksgiving a family party was held at the Belmont ward cultural hall. Attending were Mr. and Mrs. Russell Capener and their houseguests Mr. and Mrs. Reed Sorenson and family of Las Vegas, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Capener and family of Hayward, Calif; Mr. and Mrs. Elmo Christensen and family of Bear River City, Mrs. Keith Gardner and children of Riverside. A delicious dinner was enjoyed. Later in the afternoon they were joined by Mr. and Mrs. Lowell Capener and family of Ogden and Mr. and Mrs. Lamar Capener and family of Sunset. Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Ben Platt of Barnwell, Alberta, Canada. Reserve meeting Family Dinner Party All City. An overnight guest at the home of Mrs. Alice Ward Friday was her nephew Alma Johnson of Riverside, Calif. Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Burnett, Mr. and Mrs. David Burnett and children Terrell and Julie enjoyed Thanksgiving dinner with Mr. and Mrs. Roger Nelson and family in Tremonton. Friends will be glad to know Mrs. John (Grace) Allen has been released from the McKay hospital in Ogden where she was receiving medical care. Mr. and Mrs. Ross Hadfield of Boise have been visiting Ross parents Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Hadfield during the week. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Roche entertained at a family party at their home on Thanksgiving Day. Guests included Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Geary and daughter Debbie of Salt Lake City, Mr. and Mrs. Ross Hadfield of Boise, Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Hadfield of Riverside, Mr. and Mrs. Vernon Roche and daughter Sherry Jo of Fielding, LaMar Roche of Rexburg. The dinner was in compliment to J. O. Hadfield who was celebrating his 85th birthday anniversary. Sunday guests of Mrs. Esther Coombs were Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Boulter and family of Mr. and Mrs. Darwin Burnett personnel of the 854th Supply and Service company, U.S. Army Reserve, will assemble at the Army Reserve Training center in Logan at 7 a.m. Saturday and again at 7 a.m. on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Dave Thomas and family attended funeral services for Mr. Thomas mother Mrs. Ella Thomas held in the Benson Funeral Home in Malad Saturday, Mrs. Thomas was 93 years of age. Houseguests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Russell Capener Mrs. Mildred Richards of family, Mr. and Mrs. Robin Jensen and family of Palisades, Miss Margaret Capener of Rexburg. Margaret remained until Sunday and her mother accompanied her back to Rexburg. Mr. and Mrs. Ray V. Udy and family had as their dinner guests on Thanksgiving Mr. and Mrs. Ed Udy, Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Ward and family, Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Butler and daughter of Riverside. Mr. and Mrs. LaVere Udy and family enjoyed a family dinner party at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Westergard and in on Garland family Thanksgiving. Other guests were Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Thomas, Mrs. Alice Robbins, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Rhodes of Tremonton. Mr. and Mrs. Kerry Austin of Garland. Callers at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Udy Thursday were Mr. and Mrs. Fred Udy and Mr. and Mrs. Oleen Udy of Brigham by Flo Munson The Thanksgiving holiday brought some visitors to the area. Some of the local people traveled to various places for Thanksgiving. The homes of Mr. and Mrs. Clynn Richman and Lyle Rich-ma- n have been busy preparing for the arrival of Mr. and Mrs. Deloy Richman and son, Cody, from Little America; Mr. and Mrs. Gayle Richman, sons, Randy and Roby, from South Jordon; 'Mr, and Mrs.-JohHigginson, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Glenn from Brigham City; Mr. and Mrs. B. Martin Hansen and family from Independence. Ore. for the occasion. Mr. and Mrs. Jay Brown traveled to the home of Mr. and Vernon Mrs. Hansen of Brigham City for the holiday. They were joined by Mr. and Mrs. Don Woodward and family from Corinne and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Armstrong and family of Salt Lake City. n Busy Place The Gary Petit home was a busy place. Their sons, Roby and Benny and families were present for the turkey dinner and all the trimmings. Mr. and Mrs. Richard Nicholas traveled to Mesa, Ariz. They had Thanksgiving dinner with Loris parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jetta Marx and son, Jerald spent the holiday with the Max Marxs family. River valley is being planned by Mrs. LaRene Napoli, projects director at the Senior center in Tremonton. A chartered bus will leave Treomonton Dec. 28 with seats available for 39 individuals.
