Show Tromonton Tales Visitors, dinner parties highlight local news events by Flo Munson Mrs. Con Hansen ac- her sister Mrs. of Idaho Falls plane for Monto visit Mrs. Hansens and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Henry Mendoza and family. They plan to be gone approximately two weeks. Miss Marcia Mason of Zurich, Switzerland has been spending the past few weeks visiting her parents Mr. and Mrs. Max Mason and family. Returning Saturday from an enjoyable vacation in California were Mr. and Mrs. Leland Woodruff. They were accompanied by their son and daughter-in-laMr. and Mrs. Gary Woodruff and children Kayla, Kelly and Jeri Lee.' Gary is a pilot for Western Airlines. They went by plane to Los Angeles where they toured points of interest. They went to San Diego, visited the Zoo, Disneyland, Knottsberry Farm and visited in Tijuana. The trip was in compliment to Mrs. Leland Woodruff who was celebrating her birthday anniversary and also in compliment to the twins Kayla and Kelly who were celebrating companied by Lamont Moore left Friday by tebello, Calif, son-in-la- w their 14th. niversaries. birthday an- Dinner Party WoodMrs. Sunday ruff was further honored at a dinner party held at the home of her and daughter Mr. and Mrs. Brent Wood and family in Tremonton for her birthday anniversary. Other guests included Mr. and Mrs. Glen Wood of Fielding, Miss Susan Wood of Logan and Leland Woodruff. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. M.L. Morgan is their daughter-in-laMrs. Steven Morgan and son Travis and daughter Natalie of, Mountain Home AFB, Idaho. Steven Morgan is serving as a pilot with Air Force in Thailand. Patriarch and Mrs. James Walton attended the football game in Provo Saturday between BYU and Iowa State. Spending a few days visiting Mr. and Mrs. Harold Holley in son-in-la- American Fork and Mr. and Mrs. Arch Showell. The two ladies are sisters. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Miller and family for several days last week was Mrs. Millers mother Mrs. Leona Standing of Ogden. Spending Sunday visiting Mr. and Mrs. Reed Giles were their son Gary Giles and his wife and family of Ogden. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Leland Woodruff Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Gary Woodruff and family of Bountiful. Sacrament Meeting. Mr. and Mrs. Dale Valentine and family, former Tremonton residents now living in Ogden presented the program in sacrament meeting in the Tremonton Sixth ward Sunday evening. Mr. Valentine has served as president of the Texas Mission. The VGF club met with Mrs. Ed Kerr as hostess Tuesday evening. This was the first meeting for the season. A hot luncheon was enjoyed followed by handiwork of various types. Mrs. Kerr was assisted by her daughters Carolyn Larson and Katheryn Lish. Enjoying a vacation in Bend, Ore. last week were Mr. and Mrs. Reed Giles and Mr. and Mrs. Ray Bolton. They were houseguests of Mr. and Mrs. Glen Mitchell. Mrs. Mitchell is a sister of Mr. Giles and Mrs. Bolton. Sally Kotter, a student at BYU is spending this week with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Kotter. Sally has been on a month trip in the Southern Utah wilderness with the BYU survival group. Sunday evening in sacrament meeting she told of her experinces during the past month. They received rationing for one week. The remainder of the time they survived on what they could find on the land such as pinenuts, elderberries, acorns etc. Some were fortunate to find fish etc. Sally told of tasting a rattlesnake which someone caught. Spending Saturday and Sunday in Provo were Dr. and Mr. George Ficklin. They visited their son and daughter-in-laMr. and Mrs. Kent Ficklin and their son and Mr. and Mrs. daughter-in-laDouglas Ficklin. They attended the football game between BYU and Iowa State and also attnded the Frolics at the Marriott w center. Mr. and Mrs. Jess Garfield have returned after a delightful tour in Holland on the United Airlines. They were accompanied by their son and daughter-in-laMr. and Mrs. Don Garfield of Las Vegas. w Mrs. Reta Chadaz has returned after a visit in ten-da- y by Madge H. Watts Mr. and Mrs. Earl Graser 'returned home on Monday from a tour with the senior citizens group. They traveled to the Redland Salt Mines in southern Utah: went through Bryce canyon.' They stopped in Knab and visited locations there where motion pictures are made. They took a boat trip on Lake Powell and rode the elevator to the bottom of Glen canyon. They stopped in Fillmore where they visited the first Utah State Capitol and they toured the Barco Clothing factory. Visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John OToole for four days last week were John's mother Mrs. John OToole and his grandmother Mrs. Anna Shimost from Sturgis, S.D. Arriving Monday and leaving Thurs. for a visit at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John OToole are Linda's parents Mr. and Mrs. Maurice Howard also from Sturgis. Mr. and Mrs. Kent Nebeker recent newlyweds were honored at an open house at the Willard Ward cultural hall Friday, The young couple were married in the Logan LDS temple Friday, Oct. 5th. and a reception in their honor was held at the Freedom ward cultural hall in Freedom, Wyo. Saturday, Oct 6. The new bride is the former Miss Cally Robinson daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Merle G. Robinson of Freedom, Wyoming and the grrom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Byron Nebeker of Willard. Mrs. Gladys Schroeder held a lovely open house at her home Friday night for her son Robert and his new bride Lellah. The young couple were married Friday morning, Oct. 12 in the Salt Lake LDS temple. They were honored at a reception in the Twin Falls cultural hall Saturday, Oct. 13. The new bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lauear B. Thorn ock of Twin Falls, Idaho. The Willard School PTA announces that the Halloween carnival is open to everyone in the community. There will be something for all ages and it is hoped that everyone will accept night. Veterans! Visitors in Willard on Sunday were Melvin and Ardella Keyes Smith from Ogden. They both spoke in the Willard ward sacrament meeting and Melvin sang two numbers. Ardella is the daughter of Mrs. Venna Keyes, Willard. Melvin has been a member of the SP Men of years. She graduated from Bos Elder High school and was a former Brigham City peach queen. She was a member of the Brigham City Third LDS ward and had worked in the Primary and YWMIA. She was a member of the local Veterans of Foreign Wars auxiliary; past president of the local area Eagles auxiliary 2919, and was past state president of the Fraternal Order of Eagles auxiliary. She had worked with her husband in business, Bywater Co. for the past 30 years. include her husband of Brigham City; three sons, Gary B. Bywater, Rodney E.
