Show 12 BOX ELDER Grouse Creek Reports JOURNAL, Brigham City, Utah Thursday, Mardh 29, 1973 Residents travel despite weather Boar River City News 'V ,) Wedding highlights local news events by Ssnneth Hawke Mrs. Dollie Iverson accompanied Mrs. Glenada Iverson and her small son Rex to Nat Idaho to spend Friday with Mary Iverson and the Sam Ospitals. Mr. and Mrs. John Hardy drove to Pocatello Tuesday to help move Karen and Bruce Iverson down here to move into the home vacated by Wayne Hardy. Bruce will work with John in his dairy. Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Huggins and the James Karo's of Ogden were together in Provo Sunday touring the Brigham Young university campus and visiting Ernie's sister Mrs. Myrtle Nelson. Mr. and Mrs. Keith Johnson had their married children to dinner last Sunday. They are Mr. and Mrs. Dane Johnson and Mr. and Mrs. Randy Johnson and baby Tonia Marie. The Bell, was our part of the stake road show this year and we received a superior rating to go on to region Saturday night. Besides the young people in the cast, those responsible for obtaining the reward are: Janyce Holmgren, words and music; Frieda Barker, Dee Ramsdell and Gary Sorensen, scenery; Deon Anderson, drama, and Melanie Holmgren, Saturday night Elvira Christensen and Florence Gardner visited with Zina Miller at the Cooley Memorial hospital Sunday afternoon and at the Pioneer Memorial Nursing home with Mary Fridal. Bridal Shower Tuesday evening Iris and Irene Hawkes and Bette Misrasi of Tremonton accompanied Merrilee, Danielle and Senneth Hawkes to Salt Lake for a bridal shower for Ronda Ann Hawkes given by Barbara Hawkes and Judy Brinton. Ronda and Barbara are daughters of the Boyd Hawkes. Twenty of Ronda's girl friends from Salt Lake were there to present her with lovely gifts and good wishes. Ronda Ann was married to Robert Silva Friday in a small private ceremony performed by Brigham City Judge Robert W. Daines with only family members present. After the ceremony the party had dinner at the Idle Isle and then on to the Hawkes home to cut the cake. Later that evening the Steven SCS says grass is good Hawkes of Tremonton hosted a party for a small group of friend.. The couple plan to make their home in Brigham City where they both work. Zina Miller a long time resident of our community died Sunday evening at the Cooley Memorial hospital. She will certainly be missed by the majority of the people here. She was a good friend and neighbor to a lot of us. Thelma Tebbits of Tremonton and Larry York of Ogden were the Sunday night guests of the Carter Iversons. Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Jensen and baby visited their parents the Vay Jensens and other relatives in town Sunday. Keith Johnson, vice principal at Box Elder High school, was among a group on a Navy Blue and Gold trip sponsored for educators by the Navy. The trip took them on a four day tour of Washington D.C. and a tour of the Naval academy at Annapolis. Open House Mr. and Mrs. Eph Jensen and Mr. and Mrs. Burton Anderson an open house honoring Mr. and Mrs. Ross attended Hunsaker on their golden wedding anniversary in Salt Lake City one day last week. Mr. and Mrs. Dennis Childs of Rexburg, Idaho, spent last weekend with the Norman Childs. The Alvern Davis family were hosts to the Sam Davis family of Logan Sunday. Lorraine Holmgren of San Francisco is here to attend the wedding of her niece Tamara. She is staying with her brother Gordon and his family. Robert and Marsha Gilbert Wilson announced the arrival of a daughter March 18. They gave the new addition the name of Carmen and she is welcomed at home by a brother and a sister. Mr. and Mrs. Quentin Wilson of Brigham City and Mrs. Ella Gilbert of Corinne are the grandparents. Jeanie Nelson of Riverton, Wyo. on leave as a student at the BYU was a weekend guest at the Ken Paskett home. The Dee Jay Thompson attended a family gathering in Salt Lake Saturday in honor of Mrs. Violet Kenningtons birthday. She is Dee's mother. Wendy Holmgren and Christy Nelson spent a delightful weekend in Jackson Hole, Wyoming. They report the weather wasnt as bad there as here. Mr. and Mrs. Clyde Hendrickson of Provo and Miss Becky Hendrickson, student at the BYU, were weekend guests at the Roger Hendrickson's. Thou Shalt Live Together in Love," was the theme of the Sunday night church service given by the Primary organization. Melanie Holmgren, Pat Anderson, Lorraine Hardy and Louise Checketts were in charge of the music. The children of course were the highlight of the evening because they seemed to get so much fun out of their respective parts and responsibilities. Miss Marily Munns, a student at the University of Idaho at Moscow, is spending her spring vacation with her parents the Reed Munns. After a week with her parents she is going on to Boise to visit and then back to her duties at the university. Julie Hess of Garland spent the weekend with Merrilee Hawkes. Her parents the Deloy Hesses visited Sunday evening before taking Julip home. Mr. and Mrs. Newell Norman and three children of West Corinne spent two days and one night with the Blaine Andersons during the power blackout. Monday the Blaine Anderson's, Dwight Andersons and Ilah Anderson along with the Frank Andersons, Clytie Anderson and Resee Madsen of Elwood and the Monte Anderson's of Ogden attended the wedding of Miss Darlene Anderson daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Anderson, and and usually changed drastically. As for today, everything is beautiful. Bill and Mary Thomas are in Tremonton and Mary is under the doctor's care. Bill is from heart recuperating surgery and David Thomas is back at work after an operation. We send best wishes to all of them. Mrs. Louie Roberts has been visiting in Montello, Nev. with Rex and Pat Roberts and family. She has been in Declo for the winter with Joy and Miles Tracy. Rex brought her to her home in Grouse Creek on Thursday. E.O. Kimber has been in California visiting for the past couple of weeks. He is staying with Ida and Wayne Carter at their home in Culver City. He wrote to Mrs. Chloe Tanner to say he was having a good time and going lots of places. LaNette and LeAnn Thompson came out from Ogden Saturday for a short visit with their family, the Hughie Thompsons. They came to celebrate Brian 13th birthday anniversary. Laraine Tanner also came with them. Mrs. Vinnie Kunzler of Park Valley has spent a week here visiting Kenna and Bishop Merlin Tanner and family. Youth Conference Janet Blanthorn and Sherisse Warburton Elvira Christensen attended the event. Leonard is the retiring president. The Douglas Fonnesbeck family, the Dick Nelsons, the Gary Nelsons and Dennis Nelson, and the Raymond Nelsons were in Pocatello for the World Cutter races this weekend. Their teams failed to take a prize but Dougs brother Jim and mother Maurine won the trophy and all accompanying prizes that went with the championship of the Fourth Division. Thelma said, "At least it was some compensation to keep it in the family." Leslie Leonard, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Leonard, spent four days last week with her grandparents the R. J. Leonards. The two children of Bruce Leonard, Mia and Jay spent Saturday with their grandparents. A closing comment: One good thing about the happenings of Thursday and Friday with no power or telephone did give us something to discuss besides the weather and the price of meat. They enjoyed a day of activities at the youth conference. The meetings were outstanding, the banquet was delicious, and an enjoyable time was had at the dance in the evening. Mary Kimber and Vera Tanner drove to Brigham Tuesday and spent a couple of days visiting relatives. They called on Mrs. Chloe Tanner, Elsie Smith and Fern Shaw. Vera spent most of her time with Eilene Torrey and Norma Clark and their families. Olive Kimber returned home with them on Wednesday after visiting for some time in Ogden with her and Bountiful daughters and their families. ' Naomi and Gary Kimber came out from Brigham for the weekend here with Grant Kimber. Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Adams were here from Logan and spent the weekend with Irma t Doug Tanner had gone on a two-da- y trip to Vancouver, Wash. Melissa and Kathleen took Donna Kay and Cissie to Twin Falls to the doctor for checkups. On and Sunday Doug Kathleen and children met Max and Melissa at Durfees restaurant in Sublett and enjoyed dinner together. They brought Cissie back to Grouse Creek for a visit with Max and Melissa. performances of To See Doctor Merlin and Kenna Tanner went to the doctor in Burley on Monday morning. Merlin has been suffering with a sore throat for a couple of days and went for medical care. Carole and Bob Taylor and family arrived in Ft. Collins alright following their visit here. They left eariy Wednesday in the big snowstorm and it stormed on them ail the way home. Rhea and Archie Toyn, Pearl and Ed Harris took ice cream and birthday cake and spent Wednesday evening with Max and Melissa Tanner. Meslissas birthday was Tuesday and Maxs Wednesday so the Bishop couples celebrated the - Bunderson Elementary school students practice for two Hansel and Gretel set Thursday and Friday. One group rehearses as another watches. They include left, Jaidene Williams, Brian Tuft, Shauna Thompson, Jeff Sargent, Becky Wiggins, Kathyrn May, Scott Perry, Lacey Taylor, Linda Nichols, Alison Ensign, Davis Johnson and Lindsay Jones. PRACTICE FOR PROGRAM Bunderson slates Hansel and Gretel Bunderson Elementary will present two performances of "Hansel and Gretel, Thursday and Friday school nights. Two different casts will perform each night at the school auditorium, starting at 7 p.m. according to director, Mrs. Jean Nielsen. The cast for Thursday night Thompson, mother; Brian Tuft, father; Kathryn May, witch. Friday night: Lindsay Jones, narrator; Scott Perry, Hansel; Lacey Taylor, Gretel; Alison Ensign, mother; David Johnson, father and Linda Nichols, witch.
