Show I Tromonton and Bear River Valley News Honeyville Hotline Womans Club Tremonton Womens Civic league held their opening social at the senior center The Thursday afternoon. A delicious luncheon was prepared and served by the new officers who are LaRene Napoli, president; vice Benon Wheatley, president; Colleen Woodbury, secretary; Mildred Harris, treasurer; Vernell Morrison, historian and parlimentarian; Barbara Ashby, music director and Yvonne Webb, reporter and corresponding secretary. A program was presented with Mildred Shumway as chairman. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Starr sang two duets. Mr. Starr accompanied them on his guitar. A film with former Miss America, Marilyn Van Derbur entitled No Hands But Yours, was greatly enjoyed. Mr. and Mrs. LeLon Stokes of Bothwell spent Friday ia Salt Lake City where Mr. Stokes attended a State Turkey Marketing board meeting held in the State Capitol building. Later they visited Mr. and Mrs. Darrell Stokes and family in Bountiful. Darrell is recuperating following open heart surgery. Attends Convention Mrs. Quentin Allen of Tremonton is spending the latter part of this week in Salt Lake City attending Muncipal League of Cities conventions held in the Salt Palace. She will be a houseguest of Mr. and Mrs. D.- R. (Bill) Waldron. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Wendell Hall in Portage last week were Mr. and Mrs. Chester Cannon of San Diego. A party was held in their honor. Other guests were Mrs. Stephen Love and daughters Shantelle and Tiffani of Midvale, Roger Hall of San Francisco and Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Harris of Portage. The Stage Coach Camp of DUP met at the home of Mrs. Donetta Petersen in Fielding for their first meeting for the season. Captain Helen Marriott conducted the meeting and also read a pioneer history. Voylet Grover gave the lesson on Historical Events Which Took Place in 1892. A dainty dessert was served. Mr. and Mrs. James Wood entertained at at steak fry1 at their home in Garland last week in compliment to their houseguests Honey Sanders and Ethel Hantelman of Seattle, Wash. Other guests were Mrs. Lou Lesley of Soda Springs, Idaho; Mr. and Mrs. Don Hess of Tremonton, Mr. and Mrs. Mrs. Nephi Westergard, Clarence Bowcutt and Kitty Minson of Garland. Mrs. Wood accompanied her houseguests to California to spend a few days visiting Jeanette Hall in Covina. Mr. Ferrell Williams of Malad, Idaho and Mrs. Arnold Lamb and family of Plymouth spent Wednesday visiting Mr. and Mrs. Jim Udy and family in Fielding. Visiting Mrs. Beatrice Wright in Garland Thursday were Mr. and Mrs. J.P. Jensen of Brigham City and Mr. and Mrs. Charles McBride of Nyrum. The Tremonton Literary club met with Jean Carver as hostess Wednesday evening. June Garfield gave an interesting review of A.E. book entitled Papa Hemingway. A lovely dessert was served. Flo Munson of Fielding atg clinic tended a for staff correspondents of the Deseret News held in the conference room in Salt Lake City Thursday. John was E. McCormick the keynote speaker. A picnic followed at Sugarhouse park. Mrs. Munson was accompanied by Maude Harris of Portage. Visiting Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Bishop and Mrs. Lucetta Thompson in Garland during the week were Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Barrett and daughter Cheri of Hyde Park, Mr. and Mrs. Gayle Benson and two children of Bountiful and Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Thompson of Layton. Monday they attended funeral services for Mrs. Shaffers brother, Lawrence Woods held in Rexburg, Idaho. They were accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Shaffer of East Garland. Houseguests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Brooks Shuman in Tremonton last week were Mr. and Mrs. Kay Shuman and daughters Elan and Paige of Redlands, Calif. Mrs. James Shumway of Garland spent Friday in Salt Lake City visiting her mother, Mrs. Mary P. Lindsay who is recuperating following surgery. The Ladies Self Culture club of Garland met at the community center with Mildred Last as hostess Thursday afternoon. Leaving the Honeyville area to move back to Brigham City, are Ivan and Pat Fallows and their family, they have bought a new home in Brigham and Pat tells me it sure is nice. School and canning all at the same time can certainly give you a headache, especially if you have five kids to get off each day. But it sure gets quiet in the house after eight a.m. Something to try for your freezer is melon balls, these do not require any liquid or sugar of any kind, just take your cantaloupe from the rind with your melon spoon or just cube it and freeze in plastic bags or containers. Try it youll like it! The corn and tomatoes will all be gone out here very shortly, so if you havent got yours, better hurry. Although there are still plenty of cucumbers available. the same as last year, Ruth saker supper, ballgames Hun- president, Barbra International airport where they were greeted by the Hawaiians with leis and the Hawaiian kiss. From the airport they went by bus to the city of Laie and the LDS Church college camping grounds on Hukali beach where they pitched tents and camped out with the Hawaiian LDS girls from Oahu stake. A six mile hike to see the mountains and the Laie falls was a beautiful but tiring walk. They enjoyed a tour of the Polynesian center and a night at the Pageant which was a beautiful sight to see. A group of the leaders were able to attend a session at the LDS temple on one day also. Because of rain the group was taken to the ward chapel where they slept on the floor of the recreation room for the night. New Store Owners The Honeyville grocery store has changed hands once again, Gene and Afton Preslar have sold the store to Norman and Helen Hunsaker, the new name will be the N and H Market. Everyone might find it to their advantage to visit the store soon as there are a lot of needed school items at great prices. Norman is a lifelong resident of Honeyville. The new date for the Boy Scouts outing at Crystal Springs will be Sept. 16. This will consist of is Stacy first counselor, Merrie Mozingo, second counselor and Marue Sparks as secretary. A trip to remember was taken by a group of Honeyvilles summer camp group along with 137 leaders and girls from Box Elder, Box Elder North, Box Elder South and Brigham City stakes. The children will come to Primary right from school and the children that ride Willard Reports reigned, a visit to the Kodak show at the Kapiolani park, a boat ride to Pearl Harbor and a tour of the pineapple factory. They also visited the National Memorial cemetery the of Pacific. This is where Ralph Coleman's father is buried. They found Mr. Colemans name in the records there. Then, naturally being of the female gender, they took time on their own to go (where else) shopping at the International shopping center and at the Ala Moaua shopping center. This is the largest shopping center in the world. That evening they were entertained with Luaus. A Chinese dinner at a lovely Chinese restaurant and a picnic at the Ala Moaua park with entertainment were all provided Japan. A fireside was held after sacrament meeting and they heard the testimony of John Family Returns by the LDS Hawaiian people. Living with the Hawaiian people and learning of the ways humility and hospitality was a great pleasure for all of the group. Arrive In Salt Lake City The group arrived back at Salt Lake City nine days later, tired, happy and laden with Hawaii, the Iolani palace, where King Kamehameha Hawaiian Hospitality That evening the Hawaiian ward people brought them their evening meal, they also entertained them with dancing and music. Saturday found them all again on a bus being taken to Honolulu where they stayed at the Hawaiian Inn hotel. This is just across the street from Waikiki beach. On Sunday the group attended the Waikiki ward Honolulu stake for Sunday school. While there they visited the space needle and took a ferry trip to Bremerton where they visited the navy yards. They also traveled to Vancouver, Canada where they had lunch at Queens park. They then went to Spokane where they visited their daughter Phyllis Lewis and continued home by way of Jackpot, Nev. Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Watts and daughter Adele, returned home Thursday after spending five days in Denver, Colo, where they visited Paul and Karen Rash their daughter and and grandchildren Maren and David. They also visited with Mr. and Mrs. F.D. (Speed) McGlothlen for dinner and had a long visit. Eldon and Speed spent most of their navy service time together during World War II, serving in North Dakota, Treasure Island and in Guadalcanal in the South Pacific theater. Also while in Denver they took a tour of the downtown area, went through the Natural History museum, saw the shoe at the planetarium, and took a trip to an old mining town called Cebtral City. They returned home by way of Berghout Pass, Rabbit Ears Pass and through Strawberry. All of the fall colors were out on the hills enhancing the beauty of the scenery. son-in-la- Ward Reorganized The Elder's quorum in the Willard ward was reorganized on Sunday with William Hall becoming the new president. His counselors are Stephen Bingham, and Verden Chambers. Jack Ormond will remain as secretary. Released Braegger, were Richard and president counselors Merrill Glenn and Jean Page. Stephen Chandler Bingham infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Bingham was named and blessed in services held in the Willard ward, Sept. 3. Their eight year old daughter Heidi Ann Bingham was confirmed the same day by Don Timothy Walker. Dale and Karen Holmes and Ira and Jolene Wood enjoyed a vacation trip to southern Utah visiting Cedar Breaks, Zions and Bryces canyons while there. Visiting in Utah Patty and Terry Canfield and son Jason are visiting in Utah with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Naylor in Willard and Mr. and Mrs. Homer Canfield in Honeyville. They have been living in Little Lake, Mich. After visiting, Terry will return to Michigan to the Marquette Air Force base and Patty and Jason will remain in in Utah until Christmas. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Graser visited recently in Afton, Wyo. where they attended the golden wedding anniversary of some friends. They traveled home by way of Idaho Falls visiting the Craters of the Moon. Sunday dinner guests at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Graser were Jean and Max Facer and daughter Cindy and son Douglas from Rupert, Idaho and Beverly Pool and children Tani and Steven from Las Vegas, Nev. Tuesday afternoon visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Graser were Mr. and Mrs. Marvin Graser and children Troy, Robert and Holly from Granger. Visitors for Peach Days at the home of Mrs. Howard Baddley were her son Gayle Baddley, her sister Molly Hansen and Beill Fleming all from Salt Lake City. They all enjoyed the parade in Brigham City together. Also visiting at the home of Mrs. Baddley for a few days are her brother Fern Edwards from Terreton, Idaho and his friend Earl McClurg from Idaho Falls. They stopped in Oak Creek to visit with Bonnies mother and a brother, then on to New Castle to the home of Hanks family, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Murray. The Murray family returned home on Tuesday. Johnson, 122 West First South, Brigham City, has been promoted to sergeant in the U.S. Air Force. Sergeant Johnson is a dental specialist at the Mountain Home AFB, Idaho, hospital, with the Air Force. A 1964 graduate of Box Elder High school, he attended Utah State university and Weber State college.
