Show V ; Mantua Meanderings daughter Margaret and her Local Resident Attends NEA Meeting By Deon Richards Stewart and Janet Reeves returned last week from Altantic City, N.J. where Stewart attended the National Education associations annual convention. General sessions were held in Convention Hall there. The major portion of the meetings were spent Connie who just recently returned home after serving two years on a mission in Peru. Connie showed her picture and slides that she took while she was there. Time was also spent visiting at the home of her son Harvard in Orem and also a son Roland Jensen from Salt Lake City. Last Thursday Frank Houser drove the Adventures up to an area about ten miles southwest of Mirror Lake in the Uintas, They went up through Weber canyon and then up to Kamas. About 20 miles out of Kamas they stopped at Crystal lake. When they arrived at their destination they packed into Duck lake for four miles where they set up their camp. They went to fish but they said the fishing was not very good. They did have some fun catching a few small fish. Steve Sara and John Bigler caught three fish with their hands in the creek. Explore Lakes The boys reported that the most fun they had was exploring other lakes and finding new areas. Goes Shopping While Stewart was attending these meetings, Janet enjoyed doing some shopping on the boardwalk and once in a while went to Convention hall to observe what was happening there. Millie Jensen just returned y home after a stay in Orem visiting her children. She spent some time visiting with her daughter Maureen Robins and her family. Millie was especially thrilled to visit with the Robins rjevo got day Thursday evening they spent Friday doing a lot of exploring and then some more fishing in the afternoon. Saturday after they had eaten they packed up and left. The Adventures that went on this trip were Bill and Jamy Houser, Dean and John Bigler, Dennis Allred, Steve Sara and Frank Houser. Camping with them all. Last Monday Roland and Nelda Jensen from Salt Lake City and their daughter Sharry Schlueter and her children Patricia and Brach from Centralia, came 111. to see Rolands mother, Millie Jensen. They brought their lunch and spent the afternoon visiting. Over the Fourth of July weekend Ralph and Loretta in overnight Blacksmith Fork canyon last week was Darwin and Karen Hailing and their children Brian, Karl, Cora Lee and Julie. They stayed in their tent. Also staying and sharing the tent with the Hallings was Marloe and Arlene Archibald and their children from Wellsville. Also near their camp were Stewart and Janet Reeves and their children Todd, Shelly, Allyson, Lynette and Ryan, Ray and Betty Hailing from Layton, Thelma and Keith Austin from Tremonton, and Melba and Glen Stoker from Roy. Some of the families did some hiking, some did some fishing, other just visited. Chester and Bernice Rasmussen didnt stay overnight but they drove up the of the fourth and visited Wyatt and their daughters Debbie and Lori and also Ralph's sister Donna Kerr and her daughters Janet and Brenda went to visit in Ore. They visited with Ralph's two brothers Blaine and Charles. Blaine and his wife Leora live in Sunnyside and Charles and his wife Thelma live about six miles away at Outlook. While they were there they got a chance to go shopping in the of Kennewick, Pasco and Richland. Loretta said the country up there is just beautiful. The hops crop was on and the country is full of apple orchards. The Wyatts returned home late Tuesday evenings Sun-nysid- e, tri-citi- weeks ago John and Marie Isaccson were in town visiting with their daughter Joyce and her husband Jim Craner and family. The Isacc-son- s Two are former Mantua residents who are now living in Mesa, Ariz. Mrs. Lois Hubbard and Mrs. Elizabeth Apgood recently returned from a tour of Hawaii. They flew from Salt Lake City to San Francisco and then on to Hawaii where they spent 13 days. They stayed in some of the nicest hotels in Hawaii taking in about everything on the islands such as the volcano, pineapple factory, Polynesian center and the church cultural center. They also visited the Hawaiian LDS temple where they met the temple president. The president presented each of the ladies with a beautiful lei, putting it around their necks. They then returned home via Los Angeles and then on to Utah. They said they certainly enjoyed going and had lots of fun. This past Sunday Mr. and Mrs. Frank Houser helped their husband Leon Grange from Sandy celebrate their fourth wedding anniversary. The Granges came up to Mantua where they spent the day with the Housers. Also coming to the Houser home was their other daughter Frances and her husband John Pinkston and their son John from San Pablo, Calif. They will visit until the end of this week. John is leaving in two weeks to so his wife , go to the Philippines Frances is going to spent some of the time that he is gone living here with her parents. Also coming with the Pinkstons for a visit was Johns sister Kathleen and her husband Jack Adams from Salt Lake City. Betty called the day her "family reunion" since both families had been so close nearly all their lives. Mr. and Mrs. Willie Southern have had some friends from Oklahoma City, Okla. visiting with them this past week. They are Mr. and Mrs. R.V. Douglas and their daughter Ronda and Leslie. While they were here, Willie and Carol took them around to show them what Utah looked like. A1 and Sue Seigel and their - daughter Lori Beth just recently spent three weeks vacationing. They went back to Welch, Okla. to visit with Als parents, Mr. and Mrs. Woodrow Seigel. Utah BOX ELDER JOURNAL, Brigham City, On their way they stopped in Wyoming to visit museums and toured through the Black Hills of South Dakota and then when they were there in Oklahoma, A1 helped combine wheat. A1 said it's been a long time since he had been working out in a field like that. On their way home they stopped in Branson, Colo, to visit with Sue's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Shelden. They left Lori Beth to visit with her grandparents for a few days. Lori Beth returned home with the Sheldens just in time to enjoy her birthday on July 2. The Sheldens will be staying here in Mantua for a couple of weeks visiting. Before they return home they plan to visit Yellowstone park and take in some good Utah fishing at Flaming Gorge. The Reeves family reunion was held Sunday July 9 at Marquardt park in Ogden. Lunch was at 1 p.m. with games and visiting in the afternoon. Attending were Cordell and Deon Ferry and their boys Steven, Ryan and Paul and Stewart and Janet Reeves and their children Todd, Shelly, Allyson, Lynette and Ryan.
