That evening, June 30, a reception in their honor was held at the Howell cultural hall. On Thursday they spent the day visiting with family members in Grantsville making stops on the By Madge H. On Thursday night they attended a soft ball game to watch John and Betty's son play. Thursday, July 20, at the building site on First North and First West, at 7 p.m. The Willard ward Boy Scout Troop 109 just completed encampment at Camp Bartlett in Idaho. The 16 boys participating acquired a total of 51 merit badges. In addition several rank advancement requirements Water Games The boys did an outstanding job in the aquatic and waterfront games taking practically all the awards. They took second place in aquatic trail games and placed first in swimming and canoeing. This achievement in addition to individual rates earned them the Chief Joseph Arrow award as the outstanding troop at the campout. and ladies Fourth Activities Best ever is the report of activities held on the square for the fourth of July this week. activites drawing Among record crowds were the parade, Little League and adult ballgames and the outstanding fireworks. Games food and activities held in and around the bowery was a good excuse for many to spend the day visiting with neighbors and friends and renewing with many acquaintances visitors. In Willard for the Fourth of July were Floyd and Bonnie Weaver and their family from Ogden. They spent the day with Bonnies mother Pearl Nay for family activities as well as visiting at the park. Julie Higashiyama and son Kelly from Ogden spent the fourth visiting with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Harrop and visiting with friends in Willard and in Brigham City. Two-da- y visitor at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Roger Olsen was Clay Morgan son of Mr. and Mrs. Jay Morgan from Shelley, Idaho. Visiting with their parents and friends on the fourth were Craig and Donna Weaver and baby from Ogden. Mr. and Mrs. Everett Goodell have returned home after a vacation in Wyoming. They first spent ten days in Kammeyer with Melvin daughter and and Beverly Schroeder and their three children. Then they spent a month at Fontanelle Dam where they enjoyed the cool weather, camping and fishing. son-in-la- Settle in Guam Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Mason received word this week that their daughter and Boyd and LaDawn Pixton have arrived in Guam and are settled in their home there where they will be living for two years. They flew from Salt Lake to San Francisco and then to Los Angeles. Then they flew to Honolulu Hawaii and from there to Guam. Clark Lowe spent a week in Salt Lake City as guest of John Merlin Pettingale; Becky Pet- tingale and daughter Jean. They went early so they were able to get in some fishing before returning home with the river travelers. Twenty-seveboys and girls and three leaders from the Second ward and four girls and one leader from the Willard ward attended the Brigham Young University Youth conference held June 29 through July 2. The first night they held an orientation meeting followed by a midnight swim and marshmallow roast. On Friday and Saturday mornings they attended their choice of a number of workshops. in fashions were modeled by the members from the two wards. Judy Braegger from the Willard ward arranged and conducted the fashion show. Following the lesson and fashion show, a pot luck luncheon was served by the presidencies from the two wards. spending Gizeile and water- - children's Pettingale, Lemon, Orvin Lemon, Tom Rose and Del Fredde. When they returned to Antelope Springs and the dam they were met by Helen Pettingale, Reed son and daughter-in-ladaughter-in-la- swimming and outstanding in canoeing. Their scoutmaster Alan Baddley also won first place in the scoutmaster contest. Boys participating in the week camp were Scott Baddley, Tyler Barker, Philip Barlow, Kendall Rod Braegger, Chambers, Scott Harding, Jay Harrop, Kevin Holmes, Ben Horton, John Horton, Larry Kunzler, David Mason, James Olsen, David Wilson and Scott Woodland. The two ward Relief societies from Willard held a joint meeting on Thursday morning. The occasion included the monthly lesson presented by. Linda Balls from 'the Second ward and a fashion show featuring homemade items. The children Steve Arrow the 12 place melons for outstanding Braegger and Erick Hayes, son of David Lynn and Karen Hayes was blessed by his father. A five-da- y visit in Boise, Idaho was enjoyed by Mr. and Mrs. Ira Archibald. While there they visited with daughter and Dale and Sandra Nelson and three grandchildren, Chris, Jan and Rodney. Mr. and Mrs. Eldon Watts and daughter Adele visited in Sandy on Sunday at the home of Richard and Linda Watts. While there they also attended services in the Sandy ward where Darren Richard son of Richard and Linda was blessed by his father. After the church services they returned to the Watts home where a pot luck dinner, visiting and picture taking was enjoyed by twenty members of both families. In the Willard Second ward on Sunday babies blessed were Angela infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Young, Michael infant son of Mr. and Mrs. Jeff Williams and Erica Lynn infant daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Holden. d Susie Summers daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ed Summers was confirmed by her father. Visiting in Willard on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Jesse Holden and family were Jesses father William B. Holden, his brother Mr. and Mrs. and sister-in-laRobert Holden and family from Ogden and Mr. and Mrs. Larry Glover and Mrs. Florence Neil. Mr. and Mrs. (Joan) Carl Mack and two daughters left for their home in Yucaipa, Calif, this week after a visit with Joans parents Mr. and Mrs. David Braegger and with other family members. The Mack's have been vacationing in the northwest prior to their visit in Willard. n On , - Friday afternoon ac- tivities included a mud bowl, followed by a fire truck wash, a soccer game and watermelon bust. On Friday night they attended a formal dance. On Saturday night they had a Hawaiian Luau afterwards they put on plays and presented awards in different categories. The young people from the Second ward received 14 of the 16 awards given. Other activities on Saturday included full length movie and pillow fights. On Sunday before returning home they attended church services including a special testimony meeting. In charge of transportation and arrangements for the event and attending the conference with the young people were Merlene Braegger from the Willard ward and Sharon White, Nancy Van Zweden and Cameron Buck from the Second ward. Visitor at the home of Mrs. John (Sharon) White for a day was Jolene Parcel from Portland, Ore. Mrs. Fred Blacker and her sister Mrs. Melvin Madsen from Rupert flew from Salt Lake to Seattle where they visited with their sister Mrs. Charles Pullman. They enjoyed the sightseeing there and they went shopping. They went to Victoria, Canada on the boat the Primrose Marguerita. In Victoria they took the bus tour all around the island visiting the cities and points of interest. The three drove to Portland where they visited with their brother William Nisbitt. While there they visited the Lloyds Shopping Malle with the big ice skating rink in the basement. They then visited in Ontario, Ore. and drove to Rupert, Idaho where they visited two more brothers. Mrs. Pullman will be visiting family in Utah and Idaho for a few weeks before returning to Seattle. Hall has Mrs. William returned home after a weeks visit in southern California with family and friends. She traveled both ways by bus enjoying the scenery and tourist attractions. In the Willard LDS ward on eight-year-ol- Kenneth Mrs. (Delores) Dickson and five children and Mrs. John (Linda) OToole returned home on Saturday after spending two weeks in Elko Nev. They attended the Gonzales family reunion and the Mexicana Fiesta while there. - Mark GETS EAGLE Poel-ma- n Youth Gains Eagle A scout from Troop 323 recently received his Eagle Scout award during a ceremony at the Box Elder South LDS stake center. Mark Poelman, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jay E. Poelman, 901 Douglas Dr., was presented the award by Scoutmaster Hal Reeder. Young Poelman has been a patrol leader, senior patrol leader and is currently a junior assistant scoutmaster. He is also in the Order of Arrow. The youth is currently serving as a first counselor in the teachers quorum of the Sixteenth ward. He was also a first counselor in the deacons quorum. He will be a freshman at Box Elder High school this fall. Airman Completes Training BC Airman First Class 'Ronald L. Hammett, son of retired Air Force Major and Mrs. William W. A program, with parents and friends invited, will be held a week from tonight Thursday, July 29, beginning at 7 p.m. All are welcome to attend our Sunday services. Morning worship is at 10:30 a.m. Mr. Jim Molenbeek will be guest speaker this Sunday. The evening service is held during these summer months at Box Elder Canyon. Those planning to attend should meet at the church by 6:30. First Baptist Saturday evening Is the time for the annual Golden Spike Baptist picnic. The picnic will be held at the Monroe park, 30th in Ogden. and Monroe, Recreation begins at 5 p.m. and eating at 6 p.m. At 6:45 p.m. there will be a meeting of the Executive committee. The program will be conducted by the youth, and will feature the youth summer missionaries serving in the state. The program is to begin at 7:30. Everyone is invited to bring a picnic lunch to be spread with others and served. Youth camp will be conducted next Monday through Friday at Camp Utaba.
