Miss Paulette Lichtenstein accompanied all numbers. A special violin duet was played by Kathy Young and Mary Ellen Smith followed by a trumpet selection by Gary Nelson. The program was under the direction of Mrs. Jack Morris with Mrs. George Anderson introducing the program. It was announced that the Jan. 15 book review will be given by Mrs. Maureen Hinckley Reid. Refreshments were served prior to the meeting from a table beautiful with red and white carnation centerpiece with three tiered crystal candelabra holding red and white candles on either side. Christmas gifts were Brigham City Soroptimists heard the beautiful story of the writing of the beautiful carol, Silent Night, at their annual Christmas party Thursday evening. Mrs. Nick Topic,, native of Austria, told of the writing of the words and music over a hun-dieyears ago in the village of Arnsdorf, Austria. The words were written by Father Joseph Mohr, the parish priest, and the special music by the organist, Franz Gruber. Mrs. Topic resided in Austria within a few miles of the grave of Mr. Gruber and recalls as a young girl making several visits to the grave. The carol is Austrias Christmas gift to all the world.
