In, Ttn Cira Sport , Usually in high school sports, there are one or two senior athletes who participate in more than one major sport. This year was exceptional at several of the local schools, in that there were quite a few such senior stars. All-stat- All-sta- te wasnt the only star on thei Dart campus this year. Add to his accomplishments those of Steve Criddle, Pat Benton and Jim Hess. These AS WAS mentioned. Bob three were all members, who aided in the success of the football team which won the state title, the basketball squad, which placed in state and the baseball outfit which won the state crown. Viewmont High had their stars also. Many seniors worked hard in various sports but the names of Tim Eden and Court Wilkins stand head and shoulders above of the the rest. Tim and Court were the Viking football team playing defensive lineman. They were starters on the Vike basketball team which won the region title. Tim went on to fame in the track and field world while Court went the baseball route, each contributed to those programs. i T ls 5 :! f things considering there were some great athletes competing in the high schools this past year. Next year promises to be more of the same with guys like Laytons Maurice Turner, Bountifuls Chris Davies, Viewmonts Kevin Hess and Clearfields Brian Johnson all returning. THE DARTS started out the athletic year by claiming the State 3A football title. To run the Davis double wing offense effectively it takes a special type of athlete, the Darts had those athletes this year. the same family. The Dart gals led by Joan Borski claimed their second straight track title. This has been one of the best all around senior classes in regards to athletics to ever pass through the Dart doors. This senior has lettered every yeat since he arrived at the Falcon nest. This past year he won honors while leading the Falcons to the state semi-finain football, then won the region sprint crown and placed second in the state track meet. When he wasnt running, he was hitting a ball for the Clearfield baseball, which went to the state playoffs. Other Falcons who had great years were Rod Neville, football, track and baseball; Joey Olsen, football and baseball; and Brent Rose in football and basketball. ij THE tournament was held on the Nassau for-- , mat, which means each nine holes is awarded scores asi well as the final 18. Mike shot a 34 on the front nine to win low gross there, as well as the 71 for low gross honors for 18 holes. The tournament was divided into four flights, championship, A, B, and C. Prizes were awarded, in each flight, for the low gross score on the first nine holes, low net on the second nine and low gross and net for the total 18. IN THE championship flight, Mike won the first nine ALTHOUGH HE didnt get many lines in the paper, Bountifuls Dave Faddis had quite a year for the Braves this past school season. Dave was a stalwart on the foot-- 1 ball squad from his linebacker spot, an always hustling, guard on the basketball team, and he participated in both baseball and track during the spring. Had Dave concentrated on track, he might have won the region honors. Marty Malmrose had a good year in golf, basketball and baseball. Layton had their share of super studs with Curtis Page, Sam Beeson and Tad Billmire having good years. Curtis was a standout In football and baseball. Sam had a good, year in football and placed high in the state track meet.i Tad had an outstanding year in football and was a1 member of the Lancer basketball squad until sidelined with a knee operation. FLIGHT winners were with a 30 on the back nine.' Low gross winner was Fred Lister with a 77 while low net honors went to Clark Whitworth with a 63. John Robinson won the honors for the front nine in the C flight with a 39, Les Cummings and John Robinson tied for honors on the back nine with 30. Mr. Robinson also won low gross honors with an 80 with K.O. Bob was an in football as a fullback, in basketball, as a forward and in baseball as a pitcher.
