He encouraged the council members to be among those who volunteer to Volunhelp with the clean-uteers and equipment will pick-u- p p. debris which residents have placed next to the streets. When asked if the volunteers would go inside property lines to clean-uMr. Mangelson indicated they were looking for people to bring it to the street, but wasnt saying they wouldnt. Mr. Mangelson said the committee was interested in taking on a project each year to beautify the town. Last year they cleaned up the lot across the street and south of the Town Hall. This lot is available for pasture, if someone is interested in putting a fence around it. Discussion with owners about cleaning up the Dalby property on the Highway this year has not been successful. Flowers will be planted around the town sign. Water for the p, came from Mangelsons home across planter last-yea- r Ro-mai- ne the street. Paul Mangelson inquired about fixing the tap on the north side of the Quick Stops building to supply water for the flowers. Mayor Dubinsky said she would look into that possibility. Beautification Committee member, Sandra Mangelson, wrote for and received a grant of $500 to be used to purchase trees for the town. After some discussion on where the trees should be planted, Mr. Mangelson suggested letting people, who were interested, plant a tree on town property near their home. The residents would be responsible for taking care of the tree. Restrictions such as planting under power lines would apply. Sandra Mangelson told the council that she had applied to the State Centennial Committee for a grant to put curb, gutter and ,f! sidewalks along the state roads which run through town. She is scheduled to discuss the grant with the Centennial Committee ' on May 18. Inquiries for a license to put in 10 mobile home stations and open 10 RV stations were made by Terry and Joyce Morey. The council was concerned about whether or not the sewer lines, septic tank and drain field could accommodate the mobile homes. Mrs. Morey told the council Bruce Hall, County Health Department, came out and OKd the intake and faucets for the sewer lines. She also reported that the septic tank was a 5830 gallon tank. It is more than adequate, she said. A question about whether the drain field is on the Moreys property was discussed. The Moreys have plans to use propane for the trailers until they have sufficient funds to extend the natural gas lines. Mayor Dubinsky referred them to the planning and zoning committee and told them the council would look into the ordinances. Attorney Milton Harmon informed the council that he would be representing some Levan citizens on two Quiet Title Actions. Both actions involve the community because of roads and one action involves town property. Concerning the first action, Mr. Harmon showed the council plat maps and discussed property owned by Keith Carter and property owned by Levan Town. The concern is over the roads which run through Mr. Carters prop- consisted of the base cost plus 8 cents. The council voted unanimously for the fixed rate. Mayor Dubinsky suggested doing more advertising to encourage people to hook-u- p to natural gas. Mayor Dubinsky asked the council to consider sending her to the APPA Convention in Seattle. The council voted in favor with Council member Shepherd opposing. Council member Robert Shepherd voiced his concerns about the rejection of a hook-u- p for Golden Mangelson in last months meeting. The same people were trained in the actual application of eradication chemical on the infested areas. The original intention of the program was to seek out and map the infested areas and, at a later point, return to these areas for the actual eradication application. Once this program was initiated, it became evident that much of the eradication application could take place at the time of identification and mapping, said Young. This procedure has been followed to this point and is considered the most effective method. The process saves money since the person doing the identifying does not have to make a second trip to the area to spray the weed. It is the opinion of Juab County and the associated coordinating board members that this program must go on to a point 6f control and total eradication of the Squarrose Knapweed, said Young. : See The Times-New- s For Rubber Stamps Sports. . . Come and celebrate our JHS Correspondent A record setting, championship level track season of competition has come to a close at Juab High School. While storing the hurdles, starting blocks, relay batons, uniforms, stop watches . and landing pits the coaches find themselves reminiscing over the season. Why are heads hanging, and why is there an air of bitter sweet feelings among the team at the conclusion of such an outstanding season? The Juab Wasps put us in perfect position to win the State Championship. With only 4 events remaining we enjoyed a comfortable 26 point lead over South Sevier with literally no possibility of being overtaken for the championship. Then disaster struck! Bart Garrett who entered the State Meet as one of only 2 athletes in the entire state with the possibility of earning 4 gold medals was ranked 1 in the 800 meter run. At the 200 meter mark he was illegally cut off and tripped by a South Sevier runner. He went down spraining his ankle on the out of bounds curb leaving him unable to continue the race and out of competition for the remainder of the day. During the coaches appeal, the line judge official said she didnt see the infraction. South Sevier scored 22 points from that event and was able to edge out Juab for the team title.
