The group participating in the March 8 event including the largest number of local athletes in recent years. They took advantage of favorable weather conditions to ski, bike and race the route, which starts at Dalton Springs on Blue Mountain and finishes in Indian Creek Canyon. John Gilbert of Durango was the top male finisher, winning the race to continue his consecutive win streak. First across the finish line overall was a team made of Tom Burnett, A1 Fournier Eric and Walecki. Local athletes who com- peted include Trent Smith who was first in the 18 and under males. Steve Hyatt and Rhett Maughan were second and third in age 4 male category. Other individual finishers include Joel Porter, Gary Torres, Alisa Rogers, and Marian 30-3- Rockwood. Local residents who com- peted in the race as part of a team include Tim Young, Ryan Mellor and Wilbert Eddy, who were the first place youth team. Other locals on teams include Lori Maughan, Jordan Jensen, Dennis Hoggard, Benton Palmer, Dee Torres, Kara Boyd, Brian Boyd, Karen Whipple, Chad Potts, Gary Adair, Cammy Adair, and the Joel Porter family.
