Jerald Palmer Montana Dear Editor, A respected elder remembered growing up knowing the beauty of land. He could see all the gifts of earth, thought of as blessings and kept holy. It is thought of Mother Earth and Father Sky as our parents. Everyday when the sun rises to sunset and though the night, it is balanced. Without balance there is no life. We are important. Mother Earth, the same. She is what we are. When we hurt, she hurts. How we live is how she lives. What is within us, is within her. All those that live on this earth should have a place to live. But we bring great sorrow and grief upon it and some of us have not thought about any of them. What we do to the land can He not only speaks for himself but for those that are born tonight. His grandfather, a returnee from Ft. Sumner, and what and how he suffered the conse- quences of the Long Walk brings the strongest advice not to trade or sell this land. Whatever is done, dont forget the land. It is our blessing and will make us strong. With this strong advice from one of our ancestors, lets stand together as brothers and sisters of Mother Earth and Father Sky and fight for our land. Lets oppose this MRS within San Juan County. Stop destroying what the Great Spirit has given us. Take care, of this land and in this way all living things continue to benefit a balanced, harmonious life.
