It will benefit tourists from those states as well as Utahns wishing to travel throughout the West. The reservation system used in past years required a $4 reservation fee plus the cost of long distance phone calls to individual parks to obtain reservation information. For a $5.25 individual reservation fee the public will be able to make unlimited toll free calls, obtain immediate reservation confirmation, be issued a preferred customer account number and use their credit card. MISTIX has been selected to provide this service. MISTIX is opening a Utah office and will train about 16 employees to handle the incoming reservations. Starting March 1, campers may call MISTIX and leave their name, address, phone number and reservation booking request. It will take about two week to a month to get all the campground reservation inventories on the computer. As soon as MISTIX has the information they will call people back and confirm their reservation request. Beginning February 29, mailed reservation requests received at the state parks were date stamped and mailed directly to the MISTIX office. MISTIX will process applications in order of date received. Advance reservations can be made three days to 120 days from the desired camping stay. Without Advertising You Wouldnt Know returns unnecessarily each year, according to Carol M. Fay, IRS director for Utah. She noted that recent tax changes have increased the amount of gross income a person may earn in 1987 before being required to file a tax return. For 1987; a single individual, or taxpayer who qualifies as head of household, must file a return only if his or her gross income is greater than $4,400. For married people filing jointly the amount is $7,560. For a qualifying widow or widower, the amount is $5,660. The amounts for those age 65 years or older are higher. Those who have questions about filing requirements should review the instructions on filing requirements that come with their tax forms package, Fay suggested.
