Jody Bailey photo European journalists visit San Juan by Jody Bailey Seven travel journalists from Europe were introduced to the wonders of southeastern Utah last week as guest of the Utah Travel Council. The journalists were in Utah participating in a media familiarization (FAM) tour. As part of the tour, the journalists visited Salt Lake City, Arches National Park, Edge of the Cedars, Monument Valley, Lake Powell, Capitol Reef, took a raft trip on the Colorado River, and a jeep trip into Canyonlands National Park. Along the route, they were wined, dined and entertained by local chambers of commerce and travel councils. FAM tours are sponsored with the expectation that the travel writers, upon their return home, will publicize the trip and their readers will be enticed to visit Utah when they come to the U.S. The journalists participating in this tour are Guy Heinz of Luxembourg with Revue; Femard Mathes of Luxembourg with Jurgen Hampel of Germany with Augsburger Allgemeine; and from France, Hubery Beauchamp with Independant, Rene Cenni with Nice-Mati- Christian Frohnhofer with Republicain Lorraine, and Robin Palace Georges with Quest-Franc- e Royale.
