Show THE SAN JUAN RECORD Wednesday September 24, 1986 Page 8 Raiders win over Redskins San Juan Broncos trounce Mustangs by Donald Guymon Jens Nielson passed for four touchdowns to lead the San Juan High Broncos to a 75 to 20 victory over the Kayenta Mustangs in a game played last Friday in Blanding. San Juan set the tone of the game when Billy Slavens went 77 yards on the second play of the game for a touchdown. Nielson then passed for three tds: 21 yards to Chris Singer, 29 yards to David Lee, and then back to Singer for 49 yards. San Juan then put in the second team and they scored when Ladd Shumway hit Tim Workman on a 36 yard td pass to leave the score 43-- 0 at the end of the half. The Broncos started the third quarter by picking up right where they ended the half when Scott Paulson intercepted a pass and ran it 45 yards for yet another Bronco td. Next Jaycen Tate went in from by Leo Platero the two yard line and then Craig Black went in from the three, making the score 63-- at the end of What did the Whitehorse Raiders have in common with BYU last week? Well, certainly not the final score. What they had in common was that they both scored touchdowns on their first play. San Juan closed out the game the way they started when Nielson threw his fourth td pass of the night to Slavens for 60 yards. San Juans offense had an impressive outing as they totaled 564 yards. Slavens carried the ball only three times but gained 1 1 yards on those three carries. Nielson passed the ball eight times completing seven of them for 235 yards and four tds. Shumway went four for five for 91 yards and one td.
