EXERCISE LOVERS PUNKIS AEROBICS CLASS OFFERS THE 1 PROGRAM FOR ALL YOUR PROBLEM AREAS ! The education spotlight this week falls on Gretchen DeHaan who works in a Blanding preschool for children with special needs. Gretchen spent her childhood in Fremont, Nebraska and moved to southern California when she was nine years old. She married John Travis DeHaan in 1939. John worked as an interior decorator and, for some time, Gretchen was an assistant in a dentists office. Following the death of her husband, Gretchen moved to Provo where one of her children was attending BYTJ . Provo offered several new experiences for Gretchen in her work as a volunteer at Dixon Junior High and then her employment there from seven years as a Title I aide. Gretchen enjoys living in Blanding. She has worked at San Juan High School, Blanding Elementary School. She served an LDS mission in Washington, D.C. and she has also provided service in scouting, primary and the program. Three things stand out in Gretchens value system: the need for a good education; the blessing of physical health; and, the priviledge of helping others. In her words, Its so good to get up in the morning, to feel good and to know that you are needed. She brings a quality of love and understanding into the lives of the children 4-- with whom she works.
