Dee Ann, a 1981 graduate of San Juan High School, has been an exchange student in Mexico. Carl, a San Juan High graduate, has filled an LEXS mission to Indonesia. The couple will be married February 12 in the LDS Jordon River Temple. They will be honored at a reception in the Blanding North Cultural Hall on February 20 from 7:30 until 9:30 p.m. They will make their home in Blanding where Carl is employed at Energy Fuels and Dee Ann has at Parley Redd employment Foodtown. Use creativity in Reflections contest by Janet Wilcox January officially opened the State PTA Reflections Contest. Students in the Blanding schools are to enter this annual creative arts contest. The deadline for entries is March 2. Students may enter in visual arts, photography, music or literature. Contest chairman for the elementary schools is Mrs. Kline encouraged Carroll. State winners go on to compete nationally. A Utah music entry won first place Last year 15 national honors. There are three age brackets: elementary, junior high and high school. This years theme is What Makes Me Smile. Over 100 visual art entries were turned in last year. The special rules for that field are as follows: L No drawing or painting may be larger than 24 inches by 30 inches including the mat. 2. Entries must be unframed. 3. Entries must be mounted on material suitable for displaying on peg board. Entries unmounted or on soft paper will not be accepted. 4. Mediums used may be crayon, chalk, charcoal, pencil, ink tempera, oil, water color or acrylic. The following materials are NOT eligible for national entry: stichery, weaving, leather work, batik, sandcasting, mobiles and sculpture. For copies of the rules contact your child's teacher or contact Mrs. Carroll. All entries must be accompanied with a statement signed by child and parent affirming the work is that of the student. |
