The Western Colorado Shrine Club of Mountaineers came down to ride the river from Bluff and to Had $H.0. TiuHme-p- enjoy a weekend of fun. Forty members of this Grand Junc- p tion group were here and they were a lively group, to say the least. We sure enjoyed Kesolllly them. PULLING THEIR WEIGHT early in life are these MES youngsters at the schools annual Field Day, held last Friday. The problem becomes one of getting them stopped, so if you moms noticed extra grass stains, blame it on the winMiles Turnbull photo ders. Am not sure of the official name but a national group of newswriters spent Friday touring our county. They split up and were dropped off at the various towns. The Bluff group rode the river and met up with the 19 people who had toured Monument Valley with Jim and Emery. Karen went down to Winslow to see Jonnie Steward on the 8th. Georgia Bayles went with her. They got back home Wednesday morning. Then on Saturday Jonnie returned the visit. She picked up Anita Cordova and drove back to Winslow Sunday afternoon. Everett Neff has been batching it while Lillians been in the Denver area. Ten boats of young people floated the river from Mexican Hat to Clay Hill Crossing Friday. There wasnt any fanfare with this voyage, but it really made a colorful sight as they all drifted along. T. J. and Jeff travelled to Logan Thursday with ten other members of Mr. Grovers FFA class. They attended a FFA judging contest - dairy cows, steer and poultry. The class got back to Blanding late Saturday night. The Mexican Hat Elementary had a Field Day Friday. They had relay races, 50 and 100 yard dashes, sack races, broad and high jumps and a cross-countrun. Daniel Stanley came in first in the boys run and Marlene Valentine won the girls. To top off the days activities, the kids were treated to a Walt Disney movie, The Yellowstone Cubs. Seminary graduation exercises were held Friday night in Blanding. Anna Mae Pehr-so- n was among the graduates. Mrs. Melva B. Smith, her sister Vivian Fox, and little Shaylynn Taylor, accompanied Phil Smith down from Salt Lake to spend the weekend sightseeing with Jill Keysor. Jo Schurr is enjoying a visit from her folks, Lawrence and Opal Kleppe. The Kleppes drove down from Denver. Jack and Brent Pehrson went to Salt Lake City Saturday.
