During the past week, over 2000 individual tax returns have been kicked back by the computer due to an entry error made by the taxj payers who have held two or more jobs during the past year, and have filed with two or more W-- 2 forms. IRS Officials noted that these taxpayers have erronrously entered their excess Social Security Tax withheld (FICA) on line 27 of the new form, while this line is reserved onl) for 1970 estimated tax Potatoes Lettuce Idaho Russet 10 lb. This figure should be combined with other excess payments (gas tax, etc. ) totaled on line 65, then carried forward to line 28 on the front of the form. If this precedure is followed, officials said, no problems shoild occur and any refund payment will be made on time. It was estimated that taxpayers who made this erroneous entry on their 1040, will find their refund payment will be held up 4 to 6 weeks. -- 1 . |
