She is also survived by her mother, Ruth Perkins Williams, East Carbon; sisters, Donna (Ray) Mantle, Salt Lake City; Darlene (John) Harrison, Kansas; brothers, Van (Kathy), New Mexico; and C.J. (Sharon) Blackburn, West Jordan. She was preceded in death by a son, Jonathan; her father; three brothers. Max, Rex and Paul Perkins; and one sister, Car- in Huntington. Stan-dardvill- Juan Valdez EAST CARBON CITY Juan Antonio Tony Valdez, age 70, died Oct. 7, 1995 in Price. He was bom Feb. 27, 1925 in Rosa, N.M., the son of Antonio Jose and Juanita Candelaria Valdez. He married Inez Gonzales on March 31, 1951 in Aztec, N.M. He was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, where he was an eucharistic minister and a Knight of Columbus. He was a resident of Carbon County since 1945. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War n. He was an employee at Kaiser Steel Sunnys-id- e coal mine and a retired former member of UMWA Local 9958. years. Her family moved to East Carbon in 1953, where she graduated from East Carbon High School in 1961. She was employed by Honeywell Corporation and worked in Green River. She later was transferred to Costa Mesa, Calif., where she rtiet her husband. She was an active member of the LDS Church, serving in many positions. She played the piano and served as an accompanist for various ward organizations for manv vears. him. Elma Nelson s Lela Rae was bom in Carbon County, Jan. 14, 1943 to Howard Edward Perkins and Ruth Grames Perkins. She married Charles James Nackos Dec. 19, 1967 in the Los Angeles LDS Temple. Fon Leamaster, Huntington; Bert Leamaster, ,Faye Brown, Michael Taylor and Cheri Emanuel, all of Las Vegas, Nev.; Jeron Taylor, Riverton; and Susan HELPER Elma Elizabeth Erkkila Nelson, age 87, died Oct. 6, 1995 at her home. She was bom Jan. 28, 1908 in Clear Creek, the daughter of John August and Ida Lydia Kun-ga- s Erkkila. She married Zane B. Nelson Dec. 22, 1934 in Price. He died Feb. 15, 1980. Elma was beautiful woman who humbly gave her heart to others. She devoted her life to her many loving nieces and nephews. Although she, was not blessed with children of her own, the world became her child. She is survived by one brother and two sisters, Roland (Melba) Erkkila, Salt Lake City; Lillie Woolsey, Clear Creek; Bertha Erkkila, Helper; many loving nieces and nephews. He was bom June 19, 1914 in Huntington to Edgar and Mary E. Green Allen. He married Marie Ungerman Leamaster, who preceded him in death. He later married Linda Marie Hayes Taylor June 23, 1979 in Las Vegas, Nev. Dick was a veteran of WWII and worked as a coal miner and then worked in ranching and fanning. He served 18 years on the canal board and worked as water master for Huntington-Clevelan- d Irrigation Company. He was a member of the LDS Church. Dick was instrumental in bringing in the two local power plants. He loved farming and rid. ing horses on the desert.
