Show Tuesday, October 10, 1995 9A Emery County Progress School board .minutes for Sept. 13 FERRON- - Enrollments for the 1995-9- 6 school year were reported to the Emery County Board ofEducation at the Sept. 13 board meeting at San Rafael Junior High. Superintendent Blaine Evans gave the following figures to the board: Book Cliff Elementary, 141; Cottonwood Elementary, 255; Castle Dale Elementary, 266; Cleveland Elementary, 209; Ferron Elementary, 369; Huntington Elementary, 367; Green River High School, 105; Emery High,- 819; San Rafael Junior High, 485; and Canyon View Junior High, 321. That gives the district a total of 3,337 students. In attendance at the meeting were board members- Roger - Swenson, Randy Johnson, Philip Nelson, Marie Johnson and Royd Hatt. Also present were Blaine Evans, J.J. Grant, San Rafael J unior High principal, and Phillip Jensen, business administrator. It was recommended by the superintendent that Gayle g fees and activities could be reviewed. Motion carried with a unanimous vote. A letter was read from Sevier Valley Tech commending the district for the automotive program that is available at Emery High School. The Emery High principal has requested planting grass in the area south of the softball fields to provide a practice field for the football and track programs. Approximate cost of this project would be $7,000. Employee of the Month awards were presented to Bert Jensen, Dianne Butler, David Behling and Lonie Zwahlen. The board commended these employees for the excellent work they are doing and for all of the extra effort they put into the remodeling of the school this summer. Principal Grant also expressed appreciation to these employees as well as other staff and community members who helped with the remodeling project this summer. Special fund-raisin- Tuttle be hired as the Elementary media aide, Colleen Larsen as an education assistant at the Emery High counselor's office, and Jerilynn VanWagoner and Lori Gordon as educational assistants in the preschool program. It was moved by Philip Nelson and seconded by Marie J ohnson that these recommen- dations be approved. Motion carried with a unanimous vote. A letter was read from Ferron Elementary expressing appreciation to the district maintenance crew for the extra work they did to help take care of the water damage there on the weekend of Aug. 11. A letter was read from coach Bill Wright requesting board consideration of a $25 activity participation fee for Canyon View Junior High students. It was moved by Randy Johnson and seconded by Philip Nelson that this be tabled until all Bulldog bulletin by Chesney Riddle SRJH reporter and Megan Wingate. This week we would like to recognize those students who Football and volleyball both had wins two weeks ago against were picked as students of the month for September. They are: Jason Bailey, Kyle Behling, Keith Bradshaw, Chanel Childs, Bridgett Cox, Brett Crofts, Donnalee Day, Tashia Erickson, Jake Frandsen, Angie Gilbert, Amanda Harrison, Melanie Jensen, Kurt Jewkes, Natalie Johnson, Russell Jones, Jennifer Judd, Elia Maldonado, Buddy Mills, Bevan Olsen, Luke Peacock, Andrea Swenson, Megan Thompson, Skyler Tanner, Matthew Thorpe, Bryan Whiteleather Canyon View. They both walked away with wins against Mont Harmon. Good job to both the football and volleyball teams. There next game will be Friday, Oct. 13. Come and see our teams in action. On Oct. 20 football and volleyball teams will travel to Canyon View. Then on Oct. 24 the volleyball team will go to Norte Dame and battle them. Upon reconvening, Nicole Fielder, representing the American Association of Family and Human Science and the FHA, presented the superintendent and the district vocational director with posters. Jay Mark Humphrey was welcomed to the meeting. He talked with the board about the water education program they have been sponsoring in the district.
