Most of these public servants, auditor, assessor, recorder, treasurer and sheriff are career type positions where education, training and experience are paramount requirements just as they are in the private sector. Do you think a company, say Ford, would hire a finance officer for their company and when hired, trained and experienced would just lay them off after a few years time if they are doing a good job, only to hire an inexperienced one; or keep them very long if they were not competent at the job? I tell you no! The reason we have elections every four years for these positions is to give the voter the opportunity to review their performance in office, fire them if they are not competent or keep them if they are. If these offices were civil service, you couldnt get rid of them by a vote. So never think ofcareer jobs in government as being any different than it is in the private sector. If the job is being properly and efficiently done, keep experience there. If it is not, then vote for the opposition. I merely wished to point out what I know most of you already know, and for a few to learn. Now go to the poles and vote as your conscience guides you- - but vote. RexB. Johnson Thanks supporters To the editor: In behalf of the Emery County Centennial Committee thank you for your support. Our meeting of Oct. 18 was well attended.
