Not regarding political pressures and party affiliation. Then Mr. Linton vainly attempts to bestow upon his candidate (Dixie Thompson) the very attributes she appears to need most. These are not things that can be taken from one person and given to another, but must be earned and assimilated by the way we live our lives. Duane L. Collard Supports Guymon Ross and his exemplary supportive family are very civic minded and are avid support- ers of Emery County in every aspect. I am confident that Rosss experience, education, abilities and commitment to the people of Emery County will be an asset to the office of Emery County auditor. Roger Warner Memo clarified To the editor: It has recently come to my attention that an internal memo written by me to Mark Justice and the board of the Emery County Recreation Dis- trict is being widely circulated in an attempt to shed negative light on Mr. Justices commis- sion race. Im disappointed my memo, which was intended to be an internal document, has been used in this fashion. I parable: One time there was a farmer who needed a stout work horse for some heavy, strenuous pulling. He had a choice among three work horses. All three weregood horses; all three were in their prime. But there was one who was a proven puller he was a veteran in the harness. He had been working under heavy loads for years. He had never shied away from a dirty, stinking job. He had proven time and time again that he could endure under stress for long periods of heavy, strenuous work. The farmer was wise. He purchased the proven veteran. And in the forthcoming sheriffs race, Im going to vote for the proven man. Im voting for Lamar Guymon. He is the work horse who will best fill thejob as sheriff of Emery County. Montell Seely believe it requires some clarification. Any major project is normally fraught with problems and obstacles that must be overcome. The Green River Golf Course has been such a project. My memo simply points out some problems that arose during this project. The biggest obstacle was an unforeseeable problem in obtaining the property for the golf course. As we attempted to purchase the property, it became apparent that sellers of the property possibly did not have clear title, and an adverse claim was made. This delayed purchase of only a small portion of the property, which is currently being resolved through a condemnation proceeding. All other property necessary for the golf course project has been obtained from various sources, including two state agencies. Every issue raised in my memo was answered or resolved to my satisfaction when I met with Mr. Justice and the Recreation District Board on Sept. 13. It is unfortuhate'that someone has chosen to spread what amounts to a half truth by distributing my memo without explaining that the issues were resolved and the project is going forward to completion. Im confident that the voters of Emery County will make their decisions on Nov. 8 based on the entire truth, and I invite anyone who desires a detailed explanation regarding the Green River Golf Course to Supports Huntington member of the recreation board To the editor: When it comes to voting for county officials. Im neither Republican nor Democrat. I vote for the person whose philosophy more closely matches my own; the one who is best qualified for the job; and the one most dedicated to the work. In the sheriffs race, I favor the incumbent, Sheriff Lamar Guymon. In my opinion we would be foolish to put Lamar out and start over with a new man. Lamar has served as sheriff for 16 years; he knows thejob fromAtoZ. Hehaskept up with the times. And now here is a farmers To ol myself. A. I am proud to express rny custodian of public funds. Linda Jewkes Supports Mark Justice To am continually asked if I support Mark Justice for another term as our county commissioner. My answer is always the same. I have worked with Mark for the last four years and I have found him to be the kind of person who will take the time to find out the facts about the issues. Mark is always cordial and polite and treats the county employees, elected officials and especially the public with the respect they deserve. He genuinely cares about the people of Emery County and their fu- ture. So my ing yes! answer is a resoundJim Fauver Election time To candidates and resident citizens about the issues, the accusations, the defenses and explanations, which brings me to the purpose of this letter. Here in Emery County I consider myself a republicrat. I am a registered Republican as I was in California for 45 years before returning home to retire in 1988. Buthere in Emery County where its possible to know the candidate and talk on a one to one basis I wouldnt think of voting a straight ticket, thus a republicrat. Many of the people that I have talked to think of holding public office as a gift of receiving public funds, that they should step down and give someone else a turn at the public money trough.
