James W. Fauver became the Emery County Assessor in January of 1987. He has served in this capacity for almost eight years and enjoys all aspects of his job as an elected official. duties and responsibili- "The ties of today's county clerk have become very broad," he went on to say. "The office has three primary areas of responsibility. The first is that of county clerk whose duties are outline in the Utah Code. The second is the administration of the elections. The third, which a lot of other counties do not have, is administering the operation of the District Court." Mr. Funk said that he has served on numerous committees and board, always in an effort to protect the interests of Emery County. "We have brought about the consolidation of Circuit Court into the District Court, created a development team for the court computer program, brought about computerization of the office, created electronic retrieval ofcommission minutes, initiated voter ID cards, completed realignment of voting district boundaries for use in the 1990 Census and negotiated state court contracts now totaling $ 1 1 7 ,000 which comes back to the county." According to Mr. Funk, "If I were to accomplish only one thing, it would be to have served you, the citizens, well, of which myself and staff have diligently tried. I can't say enough about Julie Winn and Wendi Downard who have worked with me the past several years, and Marcie Wright who works part time. In closing, Mr. Funk said, "Thanks again to you, the citizens of Emery County, for your continued support." Jim has accomplished many things during his two terms in office and has become widely respected by hi s peers through out the state. One thing that he is most proud of is his ap- -- pointment by Gov. Jim's main goal for the next four years is to resolve the continued tax appeals by PacifiCorp in order to stabilize Emery County's tax base Jim also plans to be active in the economic development of the county through the position which he will hold in 1995 as President of the Emery County Chamber of Commerce.
