This made Tandie Thayn the newest member to qualify for state, bringing the total of club members to qualify up to 27. Congratulations Tandie. Ideally, the family gets hooked on fishing and adopts the sport for a lifetime of good recreation. There are a number of good fishing holes on the Manti. These include: Benches, Boul-gers, Millers Flat, Potters Ponds, Wrigley Springs and At the South Summit Rodeo J.K Allred tied for third in the saddle bronc riding, and Justin Truman was eighth in calf roping. Kate Kofford placed seventh in the breakaway roping, and Jan Huntington was 10th. Wade Anderson ended fifth in the cow cutting. Willow Lake. These will offer in Oakley, the novice angler a better than average chance of reeling in a few fish. Grand County residents should try Kens Lake near Moab or Oowah and Warner lakes in the LaSal Moun- tains. San Juan anglers should consider Blanding No. 4 Reservoir. Members placing at the North Summit Rodeo were Wade Anderson, sixth in cow cutting, and Justin Truman, eighth in calf roping. Kate Kofford took fourth in the breakaway roping and fifth in goat tying. Fish may be caught with flies, spinners or baits. Beginning anglers may wish to stay with baits which are fairly reliable and inexpensive. Nightcrawlers, salmon eggs or floating cheese are probably good choices for most waters. Early morning and late evenings often provide best fishing action. Competing in the Utah High School Rodeo Associa tion is not easy. Utah has surpassed Texas in the number of members belonging. Utah boasts over 800 total members. At any one rodeo during the year, there are at least half of these members competing, making the job of capturing one of the top 10 holes difficult. This year Emery boasts 27 members going to the state finals on June The finals will again be held in Ileber City. The club has hopes of placing many members in the final go on Saturday and then of sending some on to Falon, Nev.; Shawnee, Okla., and Pan- guitch, Utah. 10-1- points in team roping. Each contestant can take the total points of their top three rodeos to the finals, a possible 30 in all events. Team ropers combine their points for a possible 60. Emery has its share of members holding 20 or more points moving into the finals. In saddle broncs, Leon McElprang holds 30, Casey Jensen 28 and J.K Allred, 2514 points. Wade Anderson is carrying 29a points in cow cutting. Justin Truman, Jesse Gilbert, Nate Nielsen and Clayton Fox are qualified in calf roping. Justin Truman is taking 26 points.
