Show Emery County Progress Zwahlen family anniversary plans gathering going from house to house giving food, books and their love to everyone. Mary died in Ferron in 1927, and John followed her in death in 1939. He had moved to be near his daughter Emma Barton after Mary died. They did not leave a great fortune of money, but they left a wonderful legacy of a bountiful life of goodness for all of us to follow. On June 6, 1992, a tree will be planted by the descendants of John and Mary Zwahlen, prominent citizens of Ferron latter part of their lives in Ferron. Two of their children, Samuel and Emma, were bom in Ferron. Life in Ferron was a time of loving and giving of themselves and blessings they could give to everyone. They made cradles for new babies and also rocking chairs. Crutches were also made by John. During the terrible time when the flu was so rampant in all parts of the country, those two loving people were the only ones who escaped the disease. Milton L. and Fay Brasher Roper were married June 22, 1932, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. An open house honoring their 60th wedding anniversary will be hosted by their family on June 13, 1992, from 3 to 5 p.m. at their residence in Huntington. Their children are Dr. Donald and Marian Roper, American Fork; Fawn and Ken Kendrick, Sandy; JoAnn and Chuk Fife, Idaho Falls, Mr. and Mrs. Jones great-grandchildre- n. Milton worked in coal mines in Emery and Carbon counties, and for the Utah State Road Department where he retired in 1974. Fay worked for the Emery County School Lunch Program where she retired in 1975. Milton has been active in the Huntington Lions Club and takes pride in a bounteous garden which he shares with family and friends each year. Fays hobbies are quilting and crocheting. She is an excellent cook. Idaho; and Clifford and Vicki The family requests no Roper, Beaverton, Ore. They, have 16 grandchildren and 18 'gifts. (Kelly) Olsen of Orangeville. They are grandparents to 12 Mr. and Mrs. Blake Jones of Huntington will be honored at an open house in celebration of their golden wedding anniversary on June 6, 1992, from 6 to 8:30 p.m. at the Huntington Stake Center, 200 treasured grandchildren. All friends and relatives are cordially invited to join in this happy occasion. Your friendship is a treasured gilt, they respectfully request no other. North Main Street, in descendants of the Zwahlens and friends are invited to come to the treeplanting to give honor and remembrance to these people. The program begins at 1 p.m. in the park on Saturday, June 6. Christensen, recently announced a state Single Heads of Household program. The program is a mentoring internship whereby, good corporate citizens in the community are recruited to participate in a hands-o- n working experience for a disadvantaged person. The purpose is to enable a young qualified person to gain high level working skills which will enable them to make the transition from public assistance to full time employment. Each participant must have a high school diploma or a GED, many have an associate degree in secretary sciences. Must be willing to participate 32 hours a week on the job training, one day a week will be spent in job search. Must perform and comply with all company regulations, being as committed as any employee in the work force. Corporate responsibility is: To provide a 90 to 180 day internship in a skill enhancing position; Assign a mentor to each intern; Submit a job training description; Allow the intern to attend a monthly workshop; Immediately report any problems to Donna Christ ensen; and A commitment to provide a meaningful training experience which may result in full time employment with the company or another company. The mentoring company bears no financial or insurance responsibility for the intern. Donna Christensen is available at all times for assistance during the training period.
