The game will be on Tuesday, April 17. After that, Emery plays at Lehi on April reporter The FHA State Convention was a fun and educational experience. The meeting began on Friday, April 6, with roll call and awards. Many awards were given to the Emery Chapter. Apryl Jorgenson and Marlene Wells received recognition for completing all five modules of Power-of-OnLarry Davis was awarded an honorary membership to our chapter. Apryl Jorgenson was also awarded the Peer Educators Performing (PEP) award for 20. Carbon will host a track tournament on Wednesday. The 3A Region Drama Competition was held at Union last Tuesday. Emery came out on top and added another region title to the record. Bob Dulli, vice president of the National Geographic Society, presented Mrs. Gray with a plaque at the Utah Geographic Alliance conference on March 30. Geography week is held in November, but teachers felt they wanted to devote more time to it, so an entire month was set aside. Art, music, dance, math, science and writing took on a geographic atmosphere as it was incorporated into these areas. Mrs. Gray was a Summer Geography Institute (SGI) participant in July 1989 at National Geographic Society headquarters in Washington, D.C. Lectures, field trips and class participation were part of the experience. She taught a segment on the Navajo Culture: A Changing People with emphasis on movement, one of the five themes of geography. She encourages all the schools to get involved in the Geography Bee held each year in January. Zachary Thomas was Cottonwoods winner this year. Mrs. Gray assisted with the state Geography Bee held at the University of Utah on March 30.
