The smaller Spartans arose to the occasion and easily smote the larger Dinos Carbon never once posed a threat against Emery as the Lady Spartans jumped to a lead in the first game thanks to some quick sling-shserves from Natalie Atwood. Carolyn Gray, Angela Tuttle, and Karen Nelson played a super net game for Emery assisted by Captain Margaret Weber, who set them up superbly. Atwood finished the game with eight points while Kaylene Truman had four points and iced the game with a service ace. Carbon seemed to recover from their disasterous showing in the first game to take an early 1 lead in the second contest. But once again the Spartans rolled off eight straight points by the serving of Kaylene Truman to snatch any hopes the Dinos had of a comeback. Shuree Harrison, Diane VanWagoner and Carolyn Gray played a terrific net game with several blocks. Gray assisted in the scoring with three points, one being an ace. The easy victory surprised a happy Coach Nancy Reed. Our girls were ready, she explained. We seem to be peaking at the right time. Carbon Coach Janet Martino praised Emery as the best team weve played this year. As for Carbons poor showing, she explained it as a matter of poor attitude on her teams behalf. The Spartan J.V. squad also enjoyed success finishing the season without a loss, and sweeping the Dino J.V. In both games the Spartans had to come .m , ,.
