After high school, he attended Mesa State College and Colorado State University. Ron made his livelihood serving people. While in high school, he was a lifeguard and swim in- structor at the Grand Junction Country Club. After college he spent a short lime in the grocery Rons leisure time was spent swimming or at the movie theater. He spent more time swimming at the pool then anyone else, often going to swim laps twice a day. Ron swam a mile every day for the last ten years of his life. He was the to be recognized by the first for swimming fifty miles in one city season. His father, Mathew Edward Dolphin, and his stepfather Eugene Robert Cary preceded Ron in death. The surviving members of his family include his mother Norma Mae Cary (Moab), his brother Bill Cary (Clifton, CO), and his wife Cherrie Dawn Dolphin (Moab). His surviving chil- pei-so- business. On July 28, 1967, Ron married his wife Cherrie Dolphin in the Manti LDS Temple. Over the years they had four children. To Ron, his family was the only worldly thing that was truly im- portant. In 1970, Ron and Cherrie moved back to Moab and purchased Towne House Cleaners. He operated this dry cleaning business, serving the Moab community for 28 years, retiring in 1998. Ron was also active in civic F'owf 6 and community service. He served on the Board of Adjustments, was an active member and president of the Lions Club, and for seven years he was a vo- Seeds! lunteer City Recreation football coach.
