The Other Half starting line Fall Half Marathon is a huge success for Moab runners With an abundance of planning, hard work, dedicated staff and volunteers, and perfect weather, the inaugural halfmarathon race called The Other Half on Saturday October 23 was a huge success. The 13.1 mile race, organized by Rim Rock Roadrunners, is sister to the Canyonlands run each spring. Some runners said the new younger sister was even prettier than her spring sibling. The start at Dewey Bridge greeted the runners with the Half-Maratho- n Reference ifaarflTj sun just coming over the ridge and fog rising off the Colorado River. The final hill before Sorrel River Ranch was made just a little easier by the encouraging sounds of Moabs Taiko Dan drummers. What a spectacular day for this new event and such an group of particicommented race direcpants, tor Ranna Bieschke. Local runners made a great showing, with Shannon Scherer taking first place overall for the women in a time of 1:27:00, while Michelle Kelley took third in 1:30:14.
