Epic deals for 5-D- notch and showed they really have the right spirit for this sport. I was so happy to see my seniors end their high school careers on such a positive note. This is something they will always remember. Grand only had 2 male runners in the state meet, but they are good solid runners (quoted by Coach Radcliffe). Keegan was 12th overall with a time of 17:54.1. He beat his time last year of almost over a minute. Cody Tibbetts ran one of his better races to close his high school career at 18:39.1. Coach Radcliffe only smiles when he sees these two runners. They have done well in their four years at Grand High and have represented Grand High well. What about next year? Since this closes the season for the young runners, Coach Radcliffe now begins preparing for the next season. The ladies will be strong next year as we retain our 4 top runhers. We sadly say farewell to our seniors; Emily Bishoff, Faye Bylilly, Randi Fosse, Amanda Carrigan, Keegan Stewart, Mark Tibbetts, Cody Shelburg, Drew DAgnese, and Clayton Vanliere. Freshman Sheena Stucki will return and be a name Moab will hear time and time again along with Sarah Olsen. The mens team will still have their main core from this year returning. Nephi Williams, Aaron Montague, Paul Allen, Andrew Jones, and Brennen Cozzens will be returning. Other promising prospects are any of the remaining runners; Matt Thompson, Daniel Johnson, Sam Webster, Donald Keogh, and Jason Stubbs. Young runners such as Nathan Johnson, Noe Jimenez, and Will Alden may even spark themselves into contention. Who will make it? It will depend on what they decide during the off-seaso-n. o&qjni) Coach Radcliffe feels we will see returning young runners hungry for a chance for a state title. High School students work with writing pros Student writers attended the first event in this years Desert Writers Workshop on October 21 at Grand County High School Library. Mary Sojourner and Dan Flores read selections from their works. Following their thanks all who came out supported the team during the season. Thanks to Coach Ryan Anderson for the technical help and support. Thanks to the parents for their support of their respective athletes. A special thanks to Mrs. Coach Paula Radcliffe for running the past 2 years with the team and being all around team mom. Hope to see you all next season. And remember RED DEVIL PRIDE! readings, the students worked either with Flores or Sojourner to write something of their own. In Flores group the students wrote the introduction to an essay. The students in Sojourners group developed an idea for a fiction piece. One student commented, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. This event is sponsored by Canyonlands Field Institute and is the ninth year writers have been brought to the school, offering the great opportunity for students to work with professional writers. Jessie Parmenter received a student scholarship to attend the full workshop held at Mr. Peale Bed and Breakfast. USDA Approved Affordable Housing Retailer aM t si? ig 4N aMr- - M?C' |
