At a special meeting Monday evening, Nov. 22, the Grand County Commission authorized Amoco Oil Company to improve a road from the upper end of Castle Valley to Fisher Point. The road will be improved as part of an exploration project by the company. Commission Chairman Ray Tibbetts stated that the company would use gravel from the countys road pit in Castle Valley, paying 25 cents per ton. He added that 10 cents per ton of the gravel removed by the company will be stockpiled, for later use by the county. Tibbetts commented that the project will prove beneficial to the county, both in upgrading the road and helping the local economy. Amoco representative Reed Smith praised the commission for its assistance in the project. Also coming under discussion was a proposed sawmill in Spanish Valley just north of Garret Freightlines. Several landowners in the area complained that they had not been notified by mail of the proposed construction, and a hearing before the Board of Adjustments. After a discussion, the commission voted to return the proposal to the Board of Adjustments for a second hearing. 1.66 GLASS ACCENTS Glass containers that encase little dolls or dried flowers.
