Show A 0 Friday, September 20, 1SSS The Daily Herald Cloudy skies io block sunshine in West Cloudy By The Associated Press Rain was falling across the southern Minnesota, northern Iowa, southern Florida and western Wisconsin at daybreak. Skies over much of the East were clear and pleasant. A large area of high pressure was expected today to continue to bring pleasant weather to much of the East. A weak stationary boundary could cause a few showers and thunderstorms in southern Florida this afternoon. Rain and thundershowers will be possible over the Dakotas, the south-ehalf of Minnesota, western Wisconsin, Iowa and northern Nebraska. Strong to severe thunderstorms might rumble this afternoon in Arkansas, western Tennessee, Mississippi, Louisiana and southeastern Texas. Thunderstorms in those areas could produce golfball-size- d hail, wind gusts in excess of 60 mph and isolated tornadoes. Skies were expected to be cloudy across the Pacific Northwest, the northern and central Rockies and northern Great Basin today. Some light rain showers will be possible in northern Washington and Idaho, as well as in western Montana. Dry and pleasant weather was expected from the Southwest to the southern High Plains. A strong low pressure system in the northern Plains produced some severe thunderstorms Thursday in Nebraska and Texas. Northeast of Hazard, Neb., a tornado destroyed a small dairy barn. It also damaged farm equipment and broke windows. Temperatures could climb today into the 90s in southern Florida and southern Texas, 80s in the Southeast, 70s across the Great Lakes and Northeast, and 60s in Dakotas, m L 'f&z&sl&fBu .7?- - Doug Turner, 8, Cherry Hill Elementary fifoa GutEesh ' ' Press By The Associated UTAH : PROVO AND SALT LAKE CITY: Tonight and Saturday partly cloudy.
