Special to The Dairy Herald While it is reasonable to expect that a film called "Striptease" would involve some exotic dancing and nudity, Demi Moore's newest movie is exploitative, gratuitous, tawdry and in poor taste even by its own standards. Think "Strip-sleazfor a clearer image of what to expect. Moore plays Erin Grant, a former secretary with the FBI who loses her job when her husband commits a felony he is a wheelchair thief. The judge, however, remembers the spouse as a former great football player, and gives custody of the coudaughter to ple's Moore him. A distressed becomes an exotic dancer to raise $15,000 for a custody appeal. When Congressman David L. Dilbeck (an entertaining Burt Reynolds) visits the Eager Beaver dance club and stumbles onto stage after deciding Moore is his angel, one of the club regulars gets a picture of him. This evidence eventually leads to murder. By the time the movie stumbles to its corn-fe- d ending, the film has been stripped more than the dancers and revealed itself to be a tease. The tease is the lie that this junker qualifies as entertainment. What this film could use is some acting lessons. Judging from the men who surround Moore, one would think they , were protecting a vulnerable lady, but Moore's emotions are impervious. Dorothy Parker once criticized a young Kather-in- e Hepburn as having an acting range then went all the way from A to B. Moore does not make it to B. You almost fee! sorry for her character's worthless What Moore demonstrates is . that it is possible to have three children and still have a fantasbut she allows it to tic body be exploited. In one scene, she strips in her apartment in a tease that shows breasts so firm and taut they may eventually strangle her. It is an unnecessary scene designed to titillate, but like most of the movie, it mereWere ly illicits a giant awards given for boredom, this movie would be the leader of the pack. Those who like to see female nude gyrations would do well to rent porno videos. Although garbage, these films are more honest. They do not pretend something they aren't. The afternoon session will feamini workshop ture a hands-o- n where participants can learn how to develop a manuscript or idea into a film treatment. . A film treatment is a brief outline or description of a film project that can be used as a tool to interest potential agents or developers, rVfarano explained.
