Salt Lake City and Utah have been selected as the United States' candidate for the 1998 Olympic Winter Games. Never have we had a greater opportunity for an economic development shot in the arm. And there is no event like the Olympics to build Utah's image internationally. We Must Prime the Pump If the Olympic Games are to come here, we must spend some seed money to build facilities. That can be done without raising taxes. The Utah Legislature has earmarked 132 of one percent from existing sales tax to build these facilities. 132 of one percent is all that's needed. There will be no new taxes. r s(Tr I n rt- - ii miwii in Jj wwf a Of J li 4jTifP (''''''''l''''''' Public funding is the logical source of this investment: All Utahns stand to benefit and timely commitments have i to be made to the national and international Olympic committees. On November 7th, Utah voters get a chance to approve this use of public funds. fmmmmmmm The Utah Legislature already voted to authorize the use of this existing tax the House vote was a unanimous 68-- Now we the people must sustain their confidence in Utah's future. Without a yes vote there will be no facilities. Without the facilities, there will be no Olympics. 0. "NO" Means No Olympics If we vote "NO" on November 7th, there will be no Utah Olympics. It's black or white. Without the seed money, we go no further. 132 of one percent of existing sales tax is a small investment for an event that holds such huge potential. But without it, we cannot proceed in seeking the International Olympic bid. Vote YES M Noveniisir 7ill Utah's Olympics. 'Everyone Wins! Paid by Olympics for Utah, Inc. Jim Jardine, Chairman. |
