Until now, few unemployed white collar executives or professionals have been lucky enough to connect with an opening in their field. Employment services and headhun-ter- s are one option, but most admit it's easier to market employees that already have jobs. Additionally, the high fees they charge are often an economic barrier for the employer, and most jobs end up getting filled through the grapevine. g, consider sale o recor ivision NEW YORK (AP)-C- Inc. BS directors are expected to meet as early as next week to consider whether to sell all or part of the company's record division, a published report said today. The Wall Street Journal said the board's decision to meet was prompted by a new overture from Sony Corp. of Japan to acquire a minority stake in CBS Records or purchase all of the unit. call was placed to Alice Henderson, a CBS spokeswoman, for comment on the report, but it was not immediately returned. CBS has said since then that its record division is not for sale. But its president and cHef executive, Laurence A. Tisch, is believed to favor selling the unit, partly because of the volatility of the record business. Others on the CBS board are believed to oppose selling the unit because it is one of the company's core businesses. The newspaper report, quoting unidentified company sources, said CBS directors decided at the company's regular monthly meeting Wednesday to reconvene shortly "to look at the future of CBS" and consider what to do with the record division. was reportedly one of several bidders for the division last year, but its offer, reported at $1.25 billion, was said to have been rejected.
