First prize went to Christie daughter of Drs. Peery, Craig and Irene Peery of Provo. As winner, Christie will perform with the Murray Symphony with Robert Lentz conducting. She has previously won numerous prizes in piano. She was awarded first prize in Baltimore in the 12 and under piano contest at the Peabody Conservatory of Music when she was only nine years old. Since moving to Utah she has won first prize in the Wasatch Piano Contest and third prize in the Utah State Fair in addition to being selected as the top pianist in the Utah Music Teacher's Association examinations. Sharing second prize in the Summer Arts contest in Salt Lake were Edward and Michael Liu of Orem, sons of Harold and Maggie Liu. Finalists in the contest from the Provo area were Janae Codner and Wendy Chen of Provo and Amy Chen of Orem; and Christina Welch of Provo was a All are students of' Irene Peery.
