The mother who is chosen as state winner will then compete in the national competition to be held in New York City about May 2. Mrs. Lucile Thorne is the current reigning state Mother of the Year, and Mrs. Odessa Cullimore is the state president. The new incoming president will be announced and introduced sometime during the program. The committee in charge stresses that everyone is invited and encouraged to attend and support the woman of their choice who is competing for the mother award. The objectives for the Mother of the Year organization are: To strengthen the moral and spiritual foundations of the American home, and to give to the observance of Mother's Day a spiritual quality which highlights the standards of ideal motherhood, and recognizes the important role of motherhood in the home, community, the nation and the world. Following the ceremony from 7 to 9 p.m. the couple will be honored with an open house at the Lion's Club Sportsman Center, Fifth E. Center St., Pleasant Grove.
