The aims of the organizatkx. are to promote actively the study, appreciation and per fonnance of music in all fields of musical art It does so by aiding performing talent, fostering creative talent and recognizing special achievement. It gives special emphasis to American music, works to raise standards of church music, helps young musicians find vocational opportunities, and promotes keener enjoyment and understanding of masterpieces of music of all periods through its Adult Education Committee. The Federation also sponsors music therapy programs in veterans hospitals, supports legislation affecting the welfare of musicians and the development of American musical life, and campaigns for; higher musical standards on radio and television programs. According to Mrs. Bird, almost every outstanding musician in Utah, solo or combined works, has been affected by grants of money, and special scholarships, awards by both state and national federation of music clubs. A few who have received the national $1000 scholarship are Richard P. Ccndie, LeRey J. Participants are divided into junior (seven to 18 yeers old), student (16 to 23 years) and artist (18 to 34 years) divisions.
