Elder Gammon is the son , of Mr. and Mrs. Welby Gammon, now of Orem. Elder Gammon spent the first 13 months of his mission in the Sheffield District, laboring mostly in the cities of Chesterfield and Barnsley. The last 11 months were spent in the Cheltanham District with three of them in Bristol where he 'served as branch president in the Newton Abbot Branch of the church. Elder Gammon arrived in Pleasant Grove June 15, after a flight from. Oslo, Norway, where he visited several days with a close boyhood friend, Elder Clifford R. is who Bradley serving on a mission there. He also visited the World's Fair at Brussels, Belgium, and at Paris, France, before his return home. The homecoming program in honor of Elder Gammon is under the direction of Bishop Hyrum E. Brown, former member school of the Salt Lake public e and Brigham Young faculty member, has been promoted from assistant , to associate professor of Education at the University of Dr. Southern California. Brown is director of the SC Reading Center which provides remedial reading for. high school and college students. He was affiliated with the Salt Lake school system during 1947 49 and received his A.B. and M.A. degrees from the University of Utah. Two years later he was appointed, principal of the school at Brigham training Young University in Provo. In 1954 he left for. Provo's Fourth of July Freedom Festival; July 6 is being sponsored for the seventh straight year by the Provo stakes of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-DaSaints. The Utah, West Utah, Provo and East Provo Stakes took over the celebration in 1952 at the invitation of the old Provo July Fourth Celebration Corporation. They came up with such a tremendous celebration it was decided they should continue each year as the sponsor. Besides providing a wonderful patriotic festival for citizens of the state, the stakes had another reason for taking over tle celebration. " vo and American Fork congrega tions today announced plans are under way to attend an interna tional convention of Jehovah's Witnesses in New York City this summer. The plans were announced joint Behrman and Gene ly by Nelson, presiding ministers of the two congregations. They said the convention could well be the largest in the history of Jehovah's Witnesses. It is scheduled for July 27 through Aug. 3 and will be held in Yankee Stadium and the Polo Grounds simultaneously. Mr. Nelson stated that it is not yet! known how many Witnesses from the are will attend, but, he addled, special travel arrangements are. being made by plane and train.
