He is primarily a newsmsn, splitting split-ting the buUc of his busy week le the ABC-TV newsroom preparing his flve-day-a-week "John Daly and the News" show and In hli office as ABC's vice-president In charge of news, special events, sports and public affairs . . . And on Sunday evenings, h hosts "What's My LlneT" on another network. Daly's "triple life" catches up with him periodically . . . During the presidential conventions and for election night, newsman Daly was also chief commentator for ABC ... As vice-president, Daly was directing the 350-man convention conven-tion news staff at each convention, but between conventions he had to fly from Chicago to San Francisco Fran-cisco via New York to appear c his panel show. Among his many honors, Daly numbers a Peabody award that cited the "high standards" and "imaginative "imagina-tive planning" of his TV news reporting, re-porting, five Sylvanla news awards.
