Show FEBRUARY BOND SALES ARE U? Purchases of Series E and II Savings Bonds in Salt Lake coun ty for the month of February were $505,987.00, according to W. Russell Anderson, county 'bond chairman for Bingham District, bringing the total for the first two months of 1957 to $l,251,e29, or 14.9 per cent of the county's quota. Total purchases in Utah were $1,388,110, during February, it was announced by Frederick P. Champ, state . savings bonds chairman, making sales so far this year 7.7 per cent ahead of the same period last year. "As soon as approved by Congress Con-gress and the president, the trea--sury plans to raise the interest rate to 3Vi per cent, compounded semi-annually, and all bonds issued from February 1st on will automatically carry this increased increas-ed interest rate. The bonds will mature in 8 years and 11 months, with redemption values increased increas-ed to a point where 3 per cent will be earned by the third year," said Mr. Champ. Clem S. Schramm, state director, direc-tor, reported that 12 counties had exceeded the state average i percentage of quota attained so far. They are: Uintah, 47.7; Emery, 33.7 Sevier, 32.7; Kane, 28 Duchesne, 27.4; . Washington, 23.1 Davis, 20.6; Wasatch, 19.2 Morgan, 18.9; Juab. 17.8; Summit, 16.5 and. Tooele, 16.5. |
