Show B.DJLA. FLASHES by Jim Abplanalp CONGRATULATIONS, MINERS The BDAA wishes to congratulate congratu-late Coach Udell Wankier and his fine group of prep hoopsters for the splendid showing they made in the recent iB tournament. I The Bingham Miners compiled perhaps the best season record in their long history of fine play by winning all league games, a great majority of pre-season and practice tilts and winding up the year by finishing second in the tough four-day tourney. Coach Wankier did a super job in taking his boys through a top-notch top-notch season, and every boy on the squad can be applauded for his display of talent and good sportsmanship. Although losing out in. the final game to a very good Panguitch team, the Miners are no less thought of and are champions in our book. Baseball Meeting Tuesday The Utah State Baseball Lea- fue will hold a meeting next 'uesday night, March 26 at Magna, Mag-na, for organizational purposes and other matters pertaining to the 1957 season. Officers and team representatives will attend and officers will be elected for the new season. No definite plans for league action have been formed form-ed as yet, but should be underway under-way after the coming meeting. PREPS START SOON I It still looks like basketball weather, but the local high school diamond aspirants will probably begin practice just as soon as weather permits. Coach Del Schick will have a few veterans vet-erans back, and will probably field another good club. The Miners are usually held back by old man winter, but round into shape fast, so we will soon be outdoors for our sports entertainment enter-tainment again. |
