Show RECREATION AT CIVIC CENTER by Charles Bates It is tournament time at the Civic Center. On Wednesday, March 27th, the Pee Wee's and the Junior teams played. In the Pee Wee bracket the Winos looked like they are the favorites with a convincing 38 to 3 trouncing of Copperfield, James Jimas scoring 14 points for the winners. The Cubs and the Pirates played play-ed a real thriller with the Pirates Pir-ates winning 21 to 16. Junior Vigil scored ten points for the Pirates while Pat Delaney scored scor-ed six for the Cubs. The Kool Cats defeated the Midgets with Fred Garcia scoring scor-ing 12 points for the Kool Cats while Dennis Gallegos scored five points for the Midgets. Saturday at noon the Kool Cats will play the Winos with the Pirates playing the winner for the championship next week. In the Junior bracket, Buck's All-Stars are the strong team. They beat the Bingham Miners by a score of 60 to 12. Harold Susaeta with 14 points had good support with Johnny Johnson scoring 12 points and Jimmy Lovat Lo-vat getting 11 points. These boys have a well balanced team. The Lancers defeated the Bingham Scouts 19 to 16. This game was close all the way. Jimmy Harry-man Harry-man scored eight points and Le-land Le-land Hansen scored six points for the Lancers. Darrell Nielsen scored seven points for the Scouts. Next week the Lancers will play Buck's All-Stars for the championship of the Junior Division. Di-vision. The Senior teams will play their first games of the tournament tourna-ment tomorrow, Saturday, March 30th. The annual basketball dance and a teen age dance will be held in the near future at the Civic Center. Dance posters will be on display for each dance. West Jordan Junior High will be invited to the Teen Age dance. In the ping pong tournament held recently, Jimmy Chadwick was champion and George Sluga was runner up. O- |
