Show BMA FLASHES by Jim Abplanalp State League Elects Frank Zaccaria. local sports booster and head of the BDAA was elected to preside over the State Baseball League at the Tuesday night meeting held at Magna. Zac succeeded J. Mazurie of Provo as the state loop prexy and appointed M. L. "Smiley" Miner of Magna as league secretary. sec-retary. L. Barnes of Spanish Fork was elected as vice president, presi-dent, the position Zaccaria held the past season. The new president presi-dent expressed the hope that more young ball players be introduced in-troduced to our league and an interest creating program be worked on for coming years of community activities. A definite schedule for league play was not drawn up at the Tuesday meeting, as a question was raised as to several teams entry. Clubs that definitely signified sig-nified an entry for this season's play were Bingham, Magna, Midvale, Provo and Spanish Fork. Pleasant Grove did not give a definite answer, and Sandy was not yet assured of a sponsor. President Zaccaria scheduled sche-duled a league meeting for Tuesday Tues-day night, April 9, at Midvale, at which time it is expected all league entries will 'he in. Don Gust, new manager of the BDAA baseball team is already at work lining up players, and should have some new faces to' go along with veterans of last year s squad. Preps Work Out The Bingham High Miners diamond aspirants began working work-ing out this week and we should have reports of them soon. |
