Show FISH AND GAME HIGHLIGHTS Fish planting trucks from the state's twelve hatcheries will all be "on the move" during the next few days as the stocking program begins be-gins in preparation for the June 4 opening of the regular trout season. sea-son. Department of dish and game spokesmen said the planting schedule sche-dule now calls for two-thirds of a million catchable size rainbow to be planted prior to the opening day of the season. Over another million of these fish will be planted during the summer month. The current low water table and expected accessibility of most hard-fished hard-fished streams and sttllwaters over the state presently assures they will be stocked prior to June 4. Fingerling trout of various sizes will be planted on schedule through out tho open-weather months in those large lakes and off-the-road Waters capable of producing good catches from plant of these smaller fish. These include plant by plane of several hundred lakes in the Uintas and other high range. The date of May 22 ha been el for the annual hatchery tour sponsored spon-sored jointly by the Salt Lake Coun ty Fish and Game Ass'n and Utah Dept. of Fish and Game. Vlisits are scheduled' to three of the state' hatcheries. The tour will begin at 8:00 a.m. with an inspection inspec-tion of the Scott Avenue hatchery in Salt Lake City, proceed from there to the Midway plant and terminate ter-minate during the early afternoon at the Springville Hatchery. The sponsoring sportsmen will serve free refreshments to all who make the tour. O |
